Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

BROWN& white tabby.I adopted him at 2 months of age July 12th 2015. He's from king county animal shelter. Petco held an event for adoption that's where I found him. His caregiver cried when I chose him. He has all his shots. I have his paper work. He does have a chip from the shelter. He's very fun. Absolutely loving. I have a 3 year old he goes to the bathroom with her he checks on her during naps. They play all day. I lived with my mom who has 2 other cats and their both older than him they didn't understand he wanted to play. It hurts that I'm posting him, he's so spoiled. He goes by: prince& baby boy. Knows them very well. I just can't ... (Read More)take care of him much longer than I hoped. My adoption fee for him was $100 then I spent another $160 spoiling him. He is like another child to me. I'm asking $140 obo. He just deserves a good home and someone who can give him the love I have no time for. (Less)

Bengal    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Need immediate help finding a home for this spayed female early generation bengal. She can be very sweet, but does not get along with other animals very well and essentially hates dogs. She is vocal around feeding time and will growl and hiss at new visitors, but is otherwise pretty submissive and enjoys naps in the sun. Ideally, this would be the perfect cat for someone that previously has had a bengal, but currently does not have any other pets.

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-23-00343Lynx (female)

Bengal    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This is Lynx. She is a Lynx point Bengal and I got her as a kitten 7 years ago through a snow Bengal breeder. I love her very much. She is playful, wants a lot of attention, she is vocal and makes so many funny sounds. She has always been an indoor cat. Lynx gets along fine with the cat she was raised with and has also been okay with other male and dominant cats. Last year, however, I had to take in my parents cat and they do not get along. Lynx began peeing on things regularly. I took her to the vet and they said it was not medical, but could be a dominance issue. I also have much less time to spend at home and I think she needs more ... (Read More)attention. I was thinking she would be happier with someone that had more time and perhaps and a single cat household. I will miss her, but I want what's best for her. If she did go to another home and continued to have I issues I would take her back immediately. I just want her to be in a happy stress free environment. She really is the most beautiful cat with such a funny personality. (Less)

My mother's cat is black with a white tuft of hair on his chest. He is clean, flea free and mostly an indoor cat now. The place my mom lives decided no pets after three months but not because the cat is bad, but because the home is a small elderly home and the other residents were upset because they were told they could not bring pets before my mom came. The cat needs a temporary loving home for 30 to 60 days while we relocate my mother to a pet friendly assisted living type o private apartment room. Rescue Me ID: 16-04-10-00505Lisa (female)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Low Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lisa is an amazing cuddly girl when you are lying in bed. She's loves to sleep between your legs and will wake you up in the morning for snuggles. During the day she sleeps. Her Mother was a house cat, her Dad was feral ... and she got the feral part. Everything is fine as long as you don't try to manipulate her in any way. But, if you try to pick her up or move her, you are going to be bleeding. I had to not move apartments when I wanted to because she is nearly impossible to capture. Need to get her to the vet? ...not a chance. She is smarter than any cat I've had. The first time I moved I had to trick her into a carrier and now she won't ... (Read More)go anywhere near them. I tried to give her drugs to knock her out (from the vet), she started getting woozy and barricaded herself in a closet. I tried to give her Prozac (from the vet) and she tasted it once and would never eat those pill snacks again. She is so smart she taught her sister to not eat those snacks. I just moved and had to have a friend wrap her up in a blanket. After pee and poop and blood she got her into the carrier. I've been in this place for 2 weeks and she's back to sleeping with me at night, but twice during the day when she baited me for snuggles I walked away with a deep laceration to my eye and a day later a deep laceration to my nose. Previously when I tried to bath her, it took stitches to put my finger back together. Today, while she was sleeping on the couch I tried to clean her cat tree in the other room. She came in jumped into the house and opened the back of my hand. I can't even imagine trying to get her to the vet and I'd like to have her teeth cleaned. I'm out of ideas and out of skin. I think she needs to be an only cat in a kids/pet free home with *very* patient and loving owners. Possibly even an outdoor cat. I love her and it would literally kill me to see her go, but I think it's time to realize that's she never going to change. I've give you her favorite tree and you can come up with a way to humanely transport her. I've fed her the best cat food on the market and always used wheat for litter. I will confirm a home is perfect before even thinking of giving her away. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-05-00011Hilary and Tenzing (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing were rescue kittens. They were part of a litter of four which were found dumped in a plastic bag behind a grocery store without their mother at about 5 weeks of age. They were fostered to health by a friend of mine. I helped give them medication and decided to take two of them (Hilary who was a climber) and Tenzing (runt). They have been very nice cats despite their rough start. Tenzing likes to chase things that you drag along the ground; while Hilary will chase the red laser dot until you get tired of the game; Hilary will greet you when you come home and loves playing at your feet. We really want to keep ... (Read More)these two together. They have always been together. They sleep together; they eat together; they have never been separated. We are heart broken to need to re-home them. However, both son and mom have become allergic to them. We are also getting ready to sell our home and move. It seems most fair to our cats that they find a new home where they can be happy, secure and safe. We will miss them tremendously. We will be sure to give all their food, litter, toys and supplies to the new family. We have found the two of them to be wonderful! In this case, two are better than one! (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults

Health: Spayed

Cleo is 16 years old and happy and healthy. I never thought she would live this long, but she clearly has many healthy years left. I am moving and live in a place I cannot have pets. It is incredibly wrenching to have to let her go to someone else, but I have no other options. Her only health issue is her skinniness. I feed her fresh wet food frequently to make sure she gets enough food. She has had other animals, both cats and dogs in her world and she likes that.

Animal ID: 0010Penny (female)

Bengal    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Penny is a 2 year old purebred Bengal that was surrendered to me by her first owner due to some health issues (excessive scratching and licking to the point of making huge, bloody open sores all over her body). She was then adopted by a friend of mine, but her health issues have become too much for the new owner to handle financially and emotionally. We recently received a donation to cover the cost of a skin biopsy which confirmed she does NOT have auto-immune disease, as was suspected. The biopsy revealed that she most likely has flea or food allergy (or both). She is now in need of allergy testing to determine what it is that she is ... (Read More)allergic to that is causing her to scratch and lick her skin raw and bloody. The full allergy panel is $484 at my vet and I am willing to take her in and have it done if someone is able to donate this service for her. If after the allergy test, said person would like to adopt her, we can move forward with the adoption. The adoption fee will be used for transportation. Delivery and home check is an absolute MUST. She is currently in a safe place, but needs to be re-homed ASAP as she may be allergic to her owner's dog. I cannot bring her into my home because she HATES other cats. She loves dogs and does well with adults and children. I am hoping for a quiet home and an owner that spends a majority of their time at home. Please contact me if you can provide this for Penny. Must be within 3 hours driving distance of 98520 in Washington. The adoption fee will help cover transportation fees and flea control. Please understand, this is NOT a cheap cat. She needs medical attention and a financially sound owner. This photo is old, sorry. Thanks ! (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Spot is an awesome cat. He is just a plain ole tuxedo cat. Got his name from a perfect black spot under his chin on the right side. Everyone needs a cat named Spot, right? He is older, laid back. He loves warm places to curl up. Not real fond of toys, boxes or bags; he is too dignified to lower himself to such idiocy. BUT, when he thinks you aren't looking, he can play with the best of them. Doesn't like people food, prefers Purina Cat Chow. He is in excellent health and weighs in at about 14#. He is not fat, just big. Gets along with my other 2 cats and yorkie, but has a tendancy to be alpha. I think he would do better as an ... (Read More)only child. At night, he loves to stretch out on your chest, if there isn't 2 others jockeying for the same position. Loves to sleep on the foot of your bed or anyone's for that matter. Does not use a litter box and I'm not sure if he can be trained. Has always used the pet door and front door. Very vocal when he wants to be fed. They all know where I keep the food and he will sit in front of the pantry door and tell you he is hungry. We live in a rural setting so he is used to being indoor outdoor. Wouldn't want him to go to a large town or city. (Less)

Norwegian Forest Cat Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Oreo is a funny cat, or he thinks so. He has been in my home since he was 10 weeks old and does not use a litter box. Uses the pet door and also asks to go out thru the front door. Give him a box, bag, or anything that rattles and he is a happy camper. Weighs in around 20#. He is kind of a stinker so you have to be alert. When he wants to be he is the most lovable guy around, BUT, when he wants, he will bite you in a heart beat. Doesn't always like to be loved or petted. He doesn't meow, he chorttles and it is the sweetest sound. He purrs, but not very often. Likes to sleep on furniture, the bed and under the table on the chairs ... (Read More)(so he can grab you as you go by). He will eat anything that you will eat. And I mean anything. No spicy food of course. LOVES potato chips. He can be outside when you start to open a bag and he will be in your lap before the bag is opened. I am NOT happy about having to give up my boys, but I am selling my home and moving into a small motorhome and travelling. I just don't think it would be fair to the boys to be cooped up all the time and I don't know if he would even use a litter box. Hasn't since 3 days after he arrived. He found the pet door, started using it and then the end of the litter box. He lives with another Wegie and a plain old Sr. alley cat. He likes to be in open spaces so he can tear around at a 100 mph at night. He is funny to watch. Will make you laugh. If you are eating something that he wants, he will gently pat you with his paw. No claws, that only happens when he is acting like a stinker. (Less)

Norwegian Forest Cat Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Creme is a beautiful Wegie cross that weighs in just under 18#. He has been in my home his entire life. A happy laid back cat that is indoor/outdoor in a rural setting. Uses a pet door and asks to go out the door. VERY talkative, you will know what he wants quickly just by his voice. I am down sizing and going to travel and it just wouldn't be fair to him to be cooped up all the time in a tiny motor home. He loves to cuddle, sleep on the bed, furniture, your lap, etc. He is EXTREMELY spoiled. Eats only dry food. Doesn't like people food. There are days when he is sooo laid back and then he has his days when he thinks he is still a ... (Read More)kitten. Give him a bag or a box and he will be happy for hours. Will hunt some, but usually too lazy. He has 2 other housemates at this time, but I think he would do better as an only child. He is NOT aggressive and they seem to bully him. Loves to ride in the car! When we go to the Vet, he sits on my lap or the chair next to me. He especially like dogs. I will also be forced to give up the other 2 one of which is also a wedgie. The other just a loved senior alley cat. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Washington
Cats can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

lnteresting Cat Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. Cats were incredibly popular in ancient Rome; Rome may have been spared from plague outbreaks due to its huge population of feral cats keeping the rat population under control. Today, Rome has the largest number of feral cats of any city in the worldabout 300,000 felines! The largest domestic cat ever weighed was about 46 pounds!
