Rescue Me ID: 17-07-17-00011Noah (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This extremely handsome, green-eyed gentleman is Noah. He is a great catch and is waiting to find the perfect partner in crime. Could it be you? This guy is more like a small dog than a cat: he loves to follow his people around, he enjoys outdoor activities, and he loves to play with water. Noah also has a fondness for running water and loves to drink out of a tap or watering can. Although some of his traits are more dog-like than cat-like, Noah still understands that a human's job is to properly serve its feline overlord. This guy likes to be fed on time, to be let out when he wants to go out, and to be promptly let in when he's done. He ... (Read More)does have a fondness for the outdoors and will do best in a home on an acreage or where there is a safe garden/yard space for him to hang out in. Noah has no qualms about jumping off a balcony, so apartment life is not for him. He especially likes watching the birds, bunnies, and bugs that frequent the yard in his current foster home. Noah does love being outside, but it seems that he prefers to be where his people are. He would love a family that enjoys gardening or yard work so that he has a tranquil place to hang out in while is basks in the sun. When Noah first came to us, he had a large wound on his neck that we suspect was caused by an abscessed cat bite. During his time in our care, Noah hasn't been around other animals, but we suspect that he will be happiest being the only pet in the home. His wound is now healed up and does not require any further care, although there is still a big patch of fur missing. The vet isn't sure if it will grow back, but is hopeful that it will. The good news is that Noah has enough hair to try a comb-over if the hair isn't growing back as quickly as he'd like. This guy is really sweet and loves his humans. He is inquisitive, friendly, social, and lovable. He enjoys being brushed and is easy to handle, although he doesn't love to be picked up and held for long periods of time (not a cuddler.) He has better things to do than sit still. Noah is still quite young (only 1-2 years old) so always has a lot on the go. He fancies himself a bit of a hunter and loves playing with toys that encourage hunting behaviour. Because of this, he is likely not the best cat for a home with small animals. While Noah would do Ok with older kids, he is not the right cat for young children. Noah will make a fantastic addition to the right home. If you'd like to learn more about him, please contact us at victoriapets@gmail.com and tell us about your family. (Less)

Animal ID: 17-02Mira (female)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This beautiful, young cat is Mira. She came into our care after her loving owner passed away. Mira has been through a lot of change over the last few months, so she's a little apprehensive when first meeting new people, but she warms up quickly and is the sweetest little girl. Mira is chatty, has a great little meow, and loves to curl up on your lap or next to you on the bed. Mira is only 2 years old and has already had to deal with a fair bit of change. It is important for her to find a family that will be able to commit to caring for her for the next 15+ years. Mira grew up in a home where she had regular access to the outdoors and is ... (Read More)used to spending a lot of time out and about. She has not been happy being cooped up inside during the last few months so would really like a home with a safe outdoor area where she can roam and enjoy the great outdoors (ideally an acreage.) Although this little girl is sweet and affectionate toward humans, she is not friendly with other cats. She needs to be the only pet in the home, and in an area where there aren't a lot of other neighbourhood cats that might cause conflict. Mira really likes snuggling with calm people who are sitting still, but she's uncertain around people with high energy, who are loud, or who are always on the go. She will do best in a quiet, adult-only home, that has a serene atmosphere. If you think that your home might be a good fit for Mira, please contact us at victoriapets@gmail.com and tell us about your family. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Canada
Cats can make good pets in Canada if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!
