Manx    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sassy is a female Manx, approx. 2 yrs. old (as of Dec. 2017). Sassy was a transfer from another rescue as they didn't have the immediate resources to help her recover from a UTI. At the time of intake, Sassy had crystals in her urine so we're recommending that she remain on a diet specific to help control these in the future - our recommendation is Hills Science Diet S/D, or Royal Canin S/O. If kept on this specific diet, we do not anticipate further issues for Sassy. Sassy is a friendly, outspoken girl and while she does okay with other cats, we feel she would be happiest on her own. We also recommend that should Sassy go to a home ... (Read More)with children, it be one with older children who can respect her space when she asks for it. Sassy is such a cutie - please do come meet her - she may be just the cat you've been looking for! Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ellie Girl came to GGOH as a stray; she had been observed sleeping on a pile of mulch in the yard of a concerned community member. Ellie was so friendly, the homeowner thought for sure she must belong to someone and thus brought her to us for help - sadly, no owner has been located. Ellie is a petite girl, young (DOB approx. Jan. 2017), calm and very affectionate. She LOVES human touch! Ellie has a medium length coat so she will require daily brushing to keep her tangle and mat free. If you are looking for a cat that loves to be held, she is your girl - she will sit in your lap or allow you to hold her for as long as you wish. This is ...     Bennie (and Bunnie) came to GGOH as strays found in a barn in our community. Bennie is an affection, full-of-fun male; DOB Aug. 2017. Bennie is presumed to be of the Manx breed, thus the absence of a full tail. Bennie is an adorable little fella who is just full of fun! He gets along well with other cats and has done well upon meeting dogs. Domestic Cat    Age: Young Kitten

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Anna came as an AHS euthanasia pull - yes, this young kitten of only 4 months old was on their euthanasia list. Why you ask - because she was shy. Shy! Anna is definitely more on the reserved side, quiet and calm but it is shameful that she was sentenced to die because of it. Thankfully for Anna, GGOH was able to save her from this fate. Anna has a beautifully soft, medium coat and dreamy, soulful eyes. She would do best in a home with older children as young, overly active children who may chase her might scare her. Even though she's a little on the shy side, we feel strongly that once she's in a home and learns who her people are, ... (Read More)she will flourish. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daisy is a 2 yr. old (DOB 8/25/15) petite female calico. Daisy was surrendered to her owner's vet with a broken leg as her owner could not afford to have her leg fixed. At the vet, she was scheduled for amputation but another private rescue stepped in, who in turn contacted us for help. Daisy has had her leg repaired and is now ready for adoption. Yes, she is walking around on all four legs! Daisy is a sweet girl, a little quiet, a bit shy but she is very loving and will flourish in home where she can get all the attention she deserves. Domestic Cat    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mary Jane was an AHS euthanasia pull - she was surrendered by her owner and wasn't liking the confines of the ASH cages. We don't know why Mary Jane was given up but we're sure it's not because of her personality - she's a sweetheart! Here at GGOH where this girl is free to roam, she has proven herself to be a lovely senior gal. Mary Jane is 12 years young! We're looking for a quieter home for Mary Jane where she can settle into her senior years and just be loved. She would be fine with older children but we feel young children might have a bit too much energy for her. If you've got warm lap to give, Mary Jane might be the one for ... (Read More)you!     Rhina is a gray tabby with hints of dilute calico. DOB 6/2017. Rhina came to GGOH as a surrender when her owner could not provide her with the medical care she needed - Rhina had an unusual case of urinary blockage at just the wee age of 3 months old. Rhina has undergone a corrective surgery which will eliminate this issue for her in the future. Today, she is happy and healthy and ready for adoption.     Oreo is a black/white male, approx. 18mos-2yrs old (Oct/2107). Oreo comes to GGOH from the AHS euthanasia list where he was surrendered by his owner for having been said to have some aggression issues - well, we are here to tell you, this cat has zero aggression and is the sweetest boy ever. He very much LOVES attention and seeks out that attention. We're not sure what the true reason for his surrender was, but we can guarantee it wasn't aggression. Oreo is front declawed.     Free 4 year old orange tabby. He is neutered but not declawed. Very loving and great with kids of all ages. The reasons I'm looking to rehome him are because my older cats don't get along with him and I don't have the time to give him the attention and play time he deserves and needs. Besides being full of energy he is also full of cuddles. Very sweet. He will also come with a cat carrier.

Luna, just about a year old (Dec. 2016) was discarded by her owner because she did not get along with the dog they got. Dropped at the HS she was deemed unadoptable due to this and was then placed on the euthanasia list. Well, they must have felt bad because she was removed from there and placed in the Barn Cat Program. Seeing her on the euth list and then the barn cat list, we decided this was not a place for her as she had been an indoor cat so we stepped in with the help of Fur-Ever Home Rescue and pulled Luna from the HS. She is a beautiful girl, a little reserved and shy and needs a home where she will have the space she needs to feel ... (Read More)safe. We have not introduced her directly to dogs, but she is not phased at all by their barking in another area of our facility and did fine with the kennel patrons that came and went when we had her in our lobby area (we share space with Mally's Sunshine Kennels). We have found that Luna likes her personal space and really just wants a warm sunny spot to rest and be left to herself. She is definitely not a lap cat and would not do well with children. She does okay with older cats but is not fond of the antics of kittens. If you have a quiet, non-active home and could give Luna a home to call her own, she would be forever thankful as our busy shelter isn't really her cup of tea. We know that not everyone is looking for a cat that wants to be left alone, but we're sure someone out there must be her match and we felt she deserved a chance at that life. Luna is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations and is micro-chipped. BEFORE CONTACTING US REGARDING LUNA, PLEASE REVIEW OUR ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. www.ggohinc.com (Less)

GGOH partnered with another rescue to get this boy to safety and get him the surgery he needed. Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Fifi is a 9 mos. old female (as of May 2017); Orange/White DSH Tabby. Spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. Fifi came to us from the euthanasia list of a Twin Cities shelter - her reason for being on the euth. list; 'not placeable in a shelter setting'. Quite honestly, we have no idea why she was labeled this way because further down in her shelter listing the description read '...the cat is friendly and affectionate. No Litter Box issues. Gets along with other cats (playful)'. How does a playful, affectionate cat end up on a euthanasia list - good question! Fifi is a very sweet cat, and yes, she really is only 9 months old - we know ... (Read More)her plump pictures would say otherwise, but it's true. One caution with this girl, we do know she does like to play nibble so we recommend that she be placed in a home with children that are able to understand what these nibbles are - she does not bite, but she has kitten teeth so her nibbling might scare a very young child - older children she would do fine with. So, if you're looking for a young, playful girl that's fun and affectionate - she may just be the one for you! Tiger came to us from a private party who pulled him from the euth. list at another shelter. Koko came to GGOH in partnership with Ruff Start Rescue after being pulled from the Humane Society euthanasia list. Koko was on the euth. list simply because she was scared and not being super social - let us tell you, this girl is VERY social! Many animals enter the H.S. and are scared of their new, sudden surroundings and to us, that is no reason to be placed on a euthanasia list - we'd be scared, too, if suddenly placed in a cold, metal cage wondering what we did to end up there and wondering when our family was coming back. Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Panda was found on the streets of Coloma. When the news of the Polar Vortex began appearing people became concerned. It was obvious that she had recently been an inside cat but now she was running at large, fending for herself, and very cold. Soon it was discovered that Panda had been declawed. This raised much concern for her safety since her primary means of self defense was now gone and she had difficulty feeding herself. A concerned citizen called and emailed and begged Little Orphans Animal Rescue to take her in. One foster stepped up and Panda was brought to safety. At her health check-up she was tested for FIV/FeLV and found to be ... (Read More)positive for FeLV. This is the Feline Leukemia Virus. You can read about FeLV here... http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/cat-care/feline-leukemia-virus Panda can live in a home with other FeLV+ cats and is a very nice girl.     Malcom ~ Male, DSH Brown Tabby. 12 mos. as of Mar. 2017. Neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccinations. Malcom was a save from the AHS euthanasia list - when we saw this young boy, we knew we had to step up and save his life. Malcom is a friendly cat but he has his a couple of little quirks; there are a select few cats in our facility that he doesn't get along with too well - considering the number of cats we have in our facility, not getting along with one or two seems pretty minor to us. Still, we feel Malcom probably would do best in a home without other cats. Malcom also is not very fond of being held - again, this isn't ... (Read More)unusual as many cats don't like to be held but we need you to know this although he's pretty young yet and he may very well grow out of that. He may also be very different when he's in a home and has the freedom to just be himself and not be on the lookout for those other cats he's not real fond of. We also would recommend that Malcom go to a home with no children. Malcom does, however, love to play and likes to sit on your lap and be petted. He likes chin scratches and LOVES treats.     Vinnie was allowed to roam at his old home, so unfortunately he did not have a bright future. Rescue Me ID: 15-09-29-00555Slim Shady (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, FIV

Slim Shady (FIV+) has been with us for a couple of years now - while he initially came to us to recover from some non-FIV related issues that he encountered while living as a free-roaming cat, he did so well that we took him off out of our sanctuary program and have placed him on our adoption list. At the time of Slim's rescue, he was very thin and had so many puncture wounds that we hardly knew where to start to nurse him back to health. As you can see, Slim has made a remarkable recovery and is ready to be re-homed; he is slim no more! Slim is male, approximately 5 years old (as of Sept. 2017), up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped ... (Read More)and neutered. Slim is missing the tip of his right ear, presumably due to frostbite. You'll also notice in his photo that it appears that he has a deformity on his lower lip - no deformity, just the coloring of his skin which is lighter on the outside of his lip - you'll notice that his nose has the same color pattern. We, here at GGOH, think it gives him kind of a cute little smirk. ;) Slim is completely toothless due to complications he encountered with his FIV but it doesn't stop him from eating both hard and soft food. He does best when on a restricted diet, but his food is mostly supplemental and he does okay with a mixture of regular food and dietary food. Slim is great with kids of all ages but older children would be best as slim does like to put his paws up on you and if his nails aren't kept short, they could be troublesome for a youngster - he doesn't scratch, but he does like to grip you to show you he loves you. He is such a love! FIV is not a death sentence - actually, it's far from it. Slim can go on to live a long, healthy life if given a proper diet and regular vet visits are kept up with. If you are interested in Slim Shady and would like to know more about him and learn more about his FIV status, just give us a call or stop by - we would be happy to discuss him with you. This boy is on everybody's favorite list - we have a feeling he might be on yours as well once you meet him! It is believed that they had been born into that situation and had remained there until they had been found. Tot is super friendly and will allow you to hold him and stroke his head and back and he will lounge in your lap and purr like crazy, too. Feathers are a favorite toy - he'll bat at them happily when offered to him. He is such a sweetheart and we truly will miss him once he finds his forever home. ... Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Richie came to GGOH as a rescue in Sept. 2014; he was approximately 8 weeks old upon intake. Richie was found abandoned and living in despicable conditions along with three siblings, his mother, his father, and two other adult female cats. This handsome boy is a bit shy but give him time to earn your trust and he's very, very sweet! Richie gets along well with other cats and dogs don't seem to bother him. Due to his quiet demeanor, he would do best in a home without active, young children - he'd be fine with older children who could respect his space.     Olivia is a female, gray/black/white DSH Tabby. DOB approximately May 2009. Olivia was a stray found running around outside our facility. Olivia is a sassy girl with a big attitude; she likes to be petted, but on her terms only and will tell you when she's had enough. Don't let this deter you though because she really is one lovable and likable cat - although she would do best in a home without young children as they may not be able to understand her unspoken signals.     Mona is a female, DSH, gray/white Tabby. Current age undetermined but we are fairly certain she is under 5 years of age (as of May 2017). Mona was found on a loading dock where she had given birth to four kittens - momma and babies were brought to GGOH by the company's employees who had found her and were understandably concerned for her and her kittens' well-being. One of our wonderful volunteers took Mona and her kittens in as fosters and helped Mona to overcome her fear of humans and to introduce her kittens to a life with human interaction.     Mocha is a female, black/brown/auburn Domestic Long Hair. Mocha's DOB is approximately May 2011. Mocha came to GGOH as a walk-in/drop-off; she came to us cold, starved and weighing only 2 pounds. When Mocha arrived at GGOH, her fur was a completely different color than it is now in the photo above as she was severely vitamin deficient from lack of a proper diet - you would never know it now though as her fur is beautifully long and shiny with an amazing auburn glow.     Kyle is a male, gray/brown/white mix Tabby; DOB is unknown but we guesstimate somewhere around 6-7 years old (as of 9/2017). Kyle was found by one of our volunteers, hiding behind the dumpster on GGOH's property - as you can imagine, he was terribly frightened. He is a shy cat and will take some time to warm up to you - we did work with Kyle in a foster situation and made some progress and he is now currently residing on site at GGOH, getting along well with our other rescues. He's a wonderful boy, no aggression whatsoever, just quiet and shy. Kyle is very much in need of a quiet, loving environment to call home - can you provide him ... (Read More)with that?     Twitch is a neutered male, Orange Tabby mix; 8 years old. Up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and FeLV negative. Intake date 4/9/2015. Twitchers, as his former owner called him, had been abandoned in a home, for the past several months, left to fend for himself. His owner, had entrusted a housemate to look after him while he sought medical attention for himself. PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Wisconsin
Cats can make good pets in Wisconsin if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

lnteresting Cat Trivia Low-Cost Wisconsin Spay & Neuter Clinics
All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. Cats were considered divine in ancient Egypt and are depicted in hieroglyphs and found mummified in the tombs of Pharaohs. The cats in the Broadway show, Cats, were inspired by feral cats in London made famous as T.S. Eliot's Jellicle Cats. Cats were incredibly popular in ancient Rome; Rome may have been spared from plague outbreaks due to its huge population of feral cats keeping the rat population under control. Today, Rome has the largest number of feral cats of any city in the worldabout 300,000 felines!
