Manx

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Malnourished, Abused/Neglected

First, background on finding the big guy: My husband and I found this amazing kitty while he was working. The cat was hiding under a tarp in an abandoned yard. As soon as I made eye contact with him, he came right to me. I noticed he was emaciated and has a bad infection/reaction from fleas over most of his back. He did nothing but circle our legs and give us kisses and head boops. He literally walked to my car and put his paw on the door, asking to get in, and hopped in without hesitation when I opened the door. I tried some of the local shelters, but they were all full or had a 'treat and release' policy because he is an adult. I ... (Read More)could not let this wonderfully sweet guy get thrown back onto the street! I would really love to keep him-he really is the sweetest cat I have ever met; he just wants to cuddle and sleep on you- but I sincerely do not have the resources to do this. He has been with me for 3 days now living in a temporary shelter I made outside my apartment. I really want to get him to his new forever family so he can be truly healed, happy, and spoiled! About the kitty: *He appears to be around 3 years old *He appears to be a purebred Manx *He is very intelligent and listens well *I believe he was abandoned *He was neutered *He has an infection/scabbing on most of his back from fleas ***He has had 3 doses of Capstar since I found him. I haven't seen a flea on him, so the fleas should be almost gone *He is malnourished, but is having no problems eating and has quite an appetite. I keep a dish filled with hard food for him, and have been giving him 2-3 cans of wet a day trying to help him gain some weight *I have given him a dose of deworming medicine *I do not know when he was last vaccinated, but I know he has had shots in the past since he is neutered I have been spending a lot of time with him outside since I cannot bring him in my apartment. He is a very good boy and stays in his little house or the yard and doesn't wander off. He comes to me if I call for him. He greets me with raspy little meows and then proceeds to boop me nonstop. He waits for me to sit down, and will immediately hop on my lap and make bread and go to sleep....he really just wants to cuddle and be loved on! I feel awful about him living outside. I want him to have an amazing home! He really needs to have a vet visit for a checkup. He needs a bath and his back cleaned up so it can heal easier and more quickly. The fleas should be gone after a week of Capstar, but he's going to need long term prevention. ***I am ADAMANT about making sure that this little guy goes to a LOVING FOREVER HOME! He should have never ended up like this in the first place. I am just happy I found him when I did so I could help him...he is truly a sweetheart who has done nothing but melt my heart since he found us!*** If you are able to provide this guy with much needed treatment, love, friendship, fun, nourishment, everything in between- a forever home, please contact me! The adoption fee will be discussed upon meeting. I cannot stress enough how much I would like him to go straight to his new forever home, if possible. He is extremely calm and cuddly and loving! Loud noises and barking don't seem to have any effect on his constitution, and he learned his boundaries the first night I brought him back to my apartment. He is a loving, intelligent, sweet cat who deserves the best, and I really want him to have it. I can't do that for him, so please contact me if he sounds like the cuddle-kitty you have always wanted to help back to full health. I can only imagine the adventures you could go on together when he is fully healthy again....I'm not kidding. He is the kind of cat that walks right by your heels and follows you, but obedient enough to stay if you tell him to. 3 days has been long enough to see this cat is a wonderful soul, and I want him to be united with a forever family that will honor that :) (Less)

Slappy Joe is very cute and playful. He's a petite fluffy guy. He's smaller build than a lot of cats his age, short legs and so soft... but extremely nosy and inquisitive. Never a dull moment. Approximately 8 mths old. We feel he should not be placed with children as he is short on patience n does slap when hugged or held too long. ...does great with other cats. .dogs...n intelligent adults. :))

Tippy is a doll.. we call him Tippy because he was trapped.. vet thought he was a feral and tipped the ear. After a few weeks @ the shelter he was loving, being held and cuddled. He has become a little standoffish, because he has the freedom of the cat room. If he is in the kennel or a box relaxing, he will let you rub and love him.......but it's according to the way he feels at the moment. Most recent photo July 25.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in West Virginia
Cats can make good pets in West Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

lnteresting Cat Trivia Low-Cost West Virginia Spay & Neuter Clinics
All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. The cats in the Broadway show, Cats, were inspired by feral cats in London made famous as T.S. Eliot's Jellicle Cats. The largest domestic cat ever weighed was about 46 pounds!
