Rescue Me ID: 14-04-17-00191Cleo (female)

Domestic Cat Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Pretty girl Cleo is a sweet, really talkative cat that was turned over to me to foster about 3 months ago and the poor thing was pregnant. It was a much longer wait than I thought before she had her babies but she have birth to 5 healthy kittens on April 6. She was taken to the vet to get UTD on shots when the kittens were 2 weeks old and the vet estimated Cleo to be around 2-3 years old. There is no way of knowing how much of that time Cleo spent outside on her own but her litter box behavior was affected somewhat. She either has a depth perception issue or is really stubborn about going number 2 right on the edge of the box (which in an ... (Read More)uncovered box, means litter and feces on the floor) so she needs a covered litter box and she'll be just fine. You do need to make sure the entrance is tall enough though as she goes as close to the opening as possible. Haha. Cleo is a VERY affectionate cat to all humans she has come in contact with and will converse with you all day long. She doesn't whine. She just talks. Cleo has is currently having issues with other animals as she is a mommy and she is protecting her babies but she didn't seem to be bothered by dogs of any kind before the kittens were born. Pretty much all cats need an adjustment period to get used to each other in a new environment but if you have a longer term issue, we will always take her back and refund your adoption fee. Cleo will be UTD on shots and Spayed when she is ready for her new home. She will be ready on April 25th (next Friday) as that is when her babies will be ready for their new homes. She is free but we would like a vet reference, and a collar with ID tag is required at pickup. Please consider this sweet, affectionate, unique cat as a new member of your family. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-04-15-00344Krinkle (female)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

I have a sweet cat named Krinkle that needs a new home. Her brother cat went missing last fall. Up to that time they mostly lived in our garage and 30 x 40 building with frequent short visits inside the house. After Tom disappeared we moved her in the house with us because she was very lonely. Unfortunately, over the winter with her inside all the time we realized that 2 of us in the family are very allergic which means she needs a new owner/family. I would probably tough out my allergies but my daughter is coming home from college soon and has a strong allergic reaction that affects her breathing when she just comes to visit for a few days. ... (Read More) Krinkle is 2 years old and was hand raised by my 17 yr old daughter from the time she was born. She likes to be petted and played with but isn't overly needy for attention either. She loves to be close to where you are hanging out and appreciates the occasional cuddle up with one of us while she takes a nap. She is litter box trained. She pretty much hides when my 4 and 2 yr old grandkids come to visit but will let them pet her for a second before running off if they manage to corner her before she has a chance to disappear. She's pretty used to just big people and I think the little ones make her nervous cause they move fast and are erratic. LOL. Never has bitten or been aggressive. I put $15 because I need a good home for her quickly and not be used for any cruel purposes. We love her and hate having to relocate her. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Oklahoma
Cats can make good pets in Oklahoma if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

lnteresting Cat Trivia Low-Cost Oklahoma Spay & Neuter Clinics
All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. Cats were considered divine in ancient Egypt and are depicted in hieroglyphs and found mummified in the tombs of Pharaohs. The cats in the Broadway show, Cats, were inspired by feral cats in London made famous as T.S. Eliot's Jellicle Cats. Cats were incredibly popular in ancient Rome; Rome may have been spared from plague outbreaks due to its huge population of feral cats keeping the rat population under control. Today, Rome has the largest number of feral cats of any city in the worldabout 300,000 felines!
