That's her only problem, and why she is no longer a good fit in our household. She has been with us for 10 years through a lot of family changes, a dog, a baby, a second baby, and now remodeling the house. This has become all too much for her. Mione will talk to you and let you know what she wants, like to go snuggle in bed. At 7 pounds it's not even that bad when she wants to sleep on you. She will happily become a purse kitty that goes wherever her person goes ... (Read More)given a little bit of training. Mione was adopted from the Lowell Humane Society with her 'sister.' She was one of three kittens, two brothers Meanie and Moe, abandoned under a bridge by their cat mom. I have her entire 10 years-worth of medical history ready to go with her. She is healthy and ready to play with you. (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant

This little bundle of love is looking for the right home! Ellie is a gorgeous, charming girl with a small stature and an incredibly big personality. At one year old, this little cat is still incredibly kittenish and will impress anyone with her daring feats of acrobatics during playtime. Despite her wild streak, she also loves nothing more than to be around people, and will follow you from room to room, always resting nearby and leaping into your arms or lap to cuddle whenever given the chance. She has a loud, sweet purr and loves to trill to announce her presence in a room! Ellie has had two previous familial situations that did not work ... (Read More)out, and is looking for the right owner who can handle her occasional mischief. Though she is very bold and curious, she needs to be gradually eased into her new home so that she doesn't get overstimulated, preferably kept in a closed 'safe' room for a week while letting her ease into the new space. As a former stray, she has a few bad manners, and needs to be discouraged from thinking that hands are toys, or swatting when she's tired of being pet. At such a young age and with so much love to give, Ellie will be a wonderful future companion for an owner who will be as devoted to her as she is to them! If you are interested in finding out more about Ellie, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser. http://www.brokentailrescue.org/adoption-application/ Ellie is being fostered in Malden and her adoption fee is $150. PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Massachusetts
Cats can make good pets in Massachusetts if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

lnteresting Cat Trivia Low-Cost Massachusetts Spay & Neuter Clinics
All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. Cats were considered divine in ancient Egypt and are depicted in hieroglyphs and found mummified in the tombs of Pharaohs. Cats were incredibly popular in ancient Rome; Rome may have been spared from plague outbreaks due to its huge population of feral cats keeping the rat population under control. Today, Rome has the largest number of feral cats of any city in the worldabout 300,000 felines!
