I'm a shy boy who takes a while to warm up. I am a one person kitty who was very devoted to my previous owner and would sleep at the end of his bed each night. I would greet his sister when she came to care for him but it took me a while to trust her enough to let her pet me. So, I would do best in a quiet home.     I belonged to an older man who had to go into a nursing home. When they were moving him out, I was scared and ran out of the house. I lived under a neighbor's porch for a year. I am still trying to remember what it is like to be a house cat, but I promise - I will remember, just give me time. I would be best with no small children. Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Incontinent

Gingerbelle is almost 14 female. She is a beautiful Himalayan Tortie Point. She is healthy, happy, loving, cat. Good with dogs, cats, children, adults. She has one issue that I can't see to fix. The vet feels due to her age and all my other pets,( cats, and 2 doxies) she has become overwhelmed. Once or twice a week, she pees on my sofas. I have dealt with this for some time now and can't no more. My husband had lung cancer and had surgery. I have two adult special needs sons living with me. It is now too much for me. I am 60 yrs old. I feel she would do well in a quiet home and perhaps get her issue solved by someone that is willing to care ... (Read More)for her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-26-00407Simon (male)

Siamese Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Simon is a 10 year old Siamese house Cat. He does have heath issues but the ones listed were not issues he has. Simon has been an indoor cat for his entire left and I have had him since he was a kitten. He has never been around any other cats or dogs but I can't imagine that he would get along well with them. He Has never been a very friendly cat and can be mean (I.e scratching/hissing) unprovoked. The vet believes it is related to overstimulation. He had a hernia repair when he was a kitten but has had no other issues or complications from that. When he was around 2-3 years old he began getting urinary tract infections due to crystials in ... (Read More)his urine and has been on prescirption Cat food (urinary so) since then. He also began developing skin problems around the same time and after lots of testing and different medications the vet determined he has eosinophilic granuloma which is tested with atopica for cats (a prescription med given in his food). When he first started it was daily but I have weaned him down to getting it weekly. Simon is a beautiful cat but I will be honest with anyone interested in him. He has never been friendly even to me. I have spoken to the vet about it extensively but they just feel that it is his personality. Simon would be perfect for someone who loves Siamese and understands their sometimes difficult temperaments. He can be playful and loves playing with his little snake or with toys on strings. However he does get overstimulated If i try to pet him and this will cause him to bite or scratch me. I have had simon for a long time and hve always dealt with his grumpy personality but am now moving and unable to take him with me. I do not have the option of brinjng him to a shelter due to his health issues. I don't want to list him randomly on Craigslist because it is important to me he has a good home. If anyone is interested please contact me for more information and I would be happy to provide it. He is up to date on everything and I can provide whwaywver vet records may be necessary. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Massachusetts
Cats can make good pets in Massachusetts if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

lnteresting Cat Trivia Low-Cost Massachusetts Spay & Neuter Clinics
All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. The cats in the Broadway show, Cats, were inspired by feral cats in London made famous as T.S. Eliot's Jellicle Cats. Cats were incredibly popular in ancient Rome; Rome may have been spared from plague outbreaks due to its huge population of feral cats keeping the rat population under control. Today, Rome has the largest number of feral cats of any city in the worldabout 300,000 felines! The largest domestic cat ever weighed was about 46 pounds!
