Rescue Me ID: 15-07-01-00120Moonlight (female)

Siamese Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Call 913-684-4939/1669 or email ftleavenworthstrayfacility@gmail.com. This pretty girl is really not that demanding -- she just wants to be a pampered indoor kitty! She has been forced to live with barn cats (urrgh, yuck, she says) at her former home and it was not a good fit for her. She is loving being inside and getting attention from volunteers and visitors who ooh and aah over how pretty and cuddly she is. She uses a litterbox (did so before even when outside -- who doesn't?, she says) and is finding that the adjustment to the barn was much bigger than her adjustment to indoors. Aah, this is the life. Winters inside from now on! This ... (Read More)lovely gal is meant to be a diva. Please visit her M-F 11-2 at the Stray Facility or email ftleavenworthstrayfacility@gmail.com for an appointment and/or an adoption application. Moonlight is about 4-5 years old. (Less)

I was saying to myself just this morning, Adonis, I said, Adonis, you know what you need? You need a person all your own. So I sat down to write this post for the nice Prairie Paws Animal Shelter folk, because apparently that's the kind of thing they do - find nice people for extremely intelligent and lovable, kitties who are...I shudder to type this...LAPLESS. That's right: I have no lap to call my own. Could you be persuaded to volunteer yours? I'll help you make hilarious cat videos that go viral. Estimated DOB is 03/02/2014. All cats or kittens at the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter will be tested for FELV / FIV before being sent home with ... (Read More)their adopters. We do not adopt out any cats or kittens found to be positive. All cats and kittens are also up to date on their vaccines and have been or will be spayed or neutered before going to their new homes. These cats and kittens are also litter box trained. All information known about this cat has been included in this bio. If you are interested in this animal, please either email info@prairiepaws.org for an application, visit our website @ prairiepaws.org or call 785-242-2967. Here's the scoop on the adoption process: A hold may be placed on an animal for $20.00 a day up to 3 business days ($60.00 max). The hold fee is non refundable. We encourage folks that are interested in a certain animal to put down a hold fee (a credit card number may be given over the phone) to ensure the animal they are interested is available for their meet and greet. You may put down a 1 day hold for $20.00 without an approved application but anything longer than that we will need an approved application on file. Putting the animal on hold makes it so others can not have a meet and greet with the said animal until the hold expires. Holds are on a first call/come first serve basis. You must call or come in, holds can not be put down via email. You must also submit an adoption application for the cat for any hold over 1 day. Please see below for our public hours. In person meet and greet - potential adopters must come and meet the animal before an adoption can take place. We can not do over the phone sight unseen adoptions. Because of financial constraints our days and hours vary. Business hours should be listed on website (www.prairiepaws.org) or at end this post. The adoption application must be filled out and approved. Adoption applications are available on our website or at the meet and greet. http://prairiepaws.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Cat-Adoption-Form.pdf If you have other pets, we call your vet to make sure their vaccinations are up to date. We can not approve the application until they are. It's great if you want to include current documentation on up to date vaccinations with your application. Speeds the process along. Once approval has been given an adoption fee must be paid in full - no partial payments. Adoption fees vary. Please note if you live in the city of Ottawa a dog license fee must also be paid. Taking your animal home - all cats and dogs must be sterilized (spayed/neutered) before going to their new homes, it is a state requirement. In most cases animals will have already been sterilized before hitting the adoption floor and you will be available to take your new companion home with you the day of adoption with an approved application. The shelter is open to the public: Mon, Wed, Thurs 11-6 and Sat 11-4. If you are interested in this dog or puppy, please either email Prairie Paws Animal Shelter at info@prairiepaws.org, for an application visit our website @ prairiepaws.org or call 785.242.2967 for more information.     Hullo dahlings! I'm Hannah, and I have very strong views on the proper habitat for my gorgeousness, which involve hovering servants (you), a warm spot to rest on (your lap), and luxurious accommodations (your bed). I enjoy the company of cats, I don't really know what a dog is. I do know I enjoy a good romp through the crinkly tunnel now and then. Estimated DOB is 05/05/2011. Rescue Me ID: 15-06-14-00610Murphy (male)

Siamese    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adult Men Only
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Murphy bonded with my husband when he was a kitten so he only likes men. I have been his caregiver so he tolerates me but only for that reason. He is declawed on all paws so he doesn't scratch and he must be inside. He does not attack people he's just cranky, and he wasn' t raised around children so he doesn't particularly like them. I have struggled with this and I am just tired of taking care of a cat that will never like me. Thank you.

Siamese Mix    Age: Young Kitten

I'm a tiny baby. I have always been small and just never gotten big like what I should be. Because of this it'll probably take me a while to be ready for adoption since I have to be big enough for surgery first. But I'm such a sweet baby. I would lay in your arms all day long if you wanted. However I do get in the mood to play and tumble with my sister, Truffles. Her and I are very bonded and we would love to be adopted together. We've been together our whole lives and we don't like being separated. I'm not quite available for adoption yet but, you can put me on hold for $40 and after I'm sterilized and vaccinated you can pay the other $40 ... (Read More)and take me home!     I am one ornery girl! I rough and tumble with kittens twice my age and my size and I hold my own! I love playing with toys, lasers pointers, other kittens or really anything that moves. I might come curl up in your lap when I'm tired, but when I'm on the hunt, don't try to hold me down! My foster mom is always raving about how soft I am. I've been around dogs and other cats, but I'm young enough that as long as you make an experience a positive one, I'll be socialized to anything! Not to mention several dogs and other cats, I've been very well socialized! I love playing with my siblings and toys and can make a game out of anything.     I'm an independent girl who tends to stick to myself. I've been the hardest one to win over in my litter but my foster mom is seeing great progress when I seek her out and lay in her lap, purring and cuddling. I love playing with my siblings but can take a little bit to warm up to new situations. I'm the only girl in my litter so I have to be tough being surrounded by boys! I'm getting socialized with dogs and cats and I'm young enough that as long as something is a positive experience I can be socialized with any situation.I'm neutered, vaccinated, FeLV tested, microchipped, dewormed and up to date on flea/tick prevention and ready to go ...     Henry, AKA Houdini, came to us very sick with an upper respiratory infection. Because he was malnourished it took him a long time to get better. We're happy to report he is well and ready for his forever home! He's a total love bug according to his foster and loves to cuddle. He needs a little time and patience to settle in as he is extremely shy, but once he does he'll keep you company on your lap and in your arms. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and aids and leukemia negative. He's been around other cats and did great, although he hasn't been around dogs. He uses the litter box like a champ and hasn't had any accidents in the ... (Read More)house.     My name is Mina, I am a gorgeous Russian Blue, spayed female, 10 years old and I need to find a good home. I am extremely healthy and still a bit kitten-ish. I will bolt across the room and jump 7 feet in the air when you least expect it. I have been living peacefully with dogs and a cat for years (although I secretly plot their demise - I am very clever. I have no front claws, so I need to be an indoor kitty. I use the litter box nicely, as the humans, like me to. I have been very well loved and cared for. I can be a little persistent to cuddle with you. Would you like to love and take good care of me? Please contact Great Plains SPCA at ... (Read More)913-831-7722 to meet me! Thank you, Mina (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Kansas
Cats can make good pets in Kansas if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. Cats were incredibly popular in ancient Rome; Rome may have been spared from plague outbreaks due to its huge population of feral cats keeping the rat population under control. Today, Rome has the largest number of feral cats of any city in the worldabout 300,000 felines!
