Maine Coon Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Please Share '| Chicago, IL - Adopt Squeaks the Front De-clawed Black & White Mini-Maine Coon Cat Squeaks is a handsome, snugly, gentle and lovable, seven-year-old, male, front de-clawed, golden-eyed black and white mini-Maine Coon cat looking for a loving guardian. Squeaks is wonderful with all the other cats in his foster home but tends to be submissive, so he gets picked on by more dominant cats. I don't think he has ever met a dog. He may be shy for the first few weeks in a new situation, but his foster mom says Squeaks is a lap cat and a snuggle bug who loves to join you in bed once he knows you. Squeaks needs a human who is home ... (Read More)more often than not. He gets lonely if left alone for too many hours. He will hide when company comes over but eventually comes out. He loves to be brushed but doesn't have much use for toys. Sadly, his human mom passed away of bone cancer at the age of 56. She left Squeaks in the hands of a dear feline-loving friend to find a home for him. To meet and possibly adopt this adorable cat, please contact Elaine at e.divita@sbcglobal.net or 312-391-6357. He is healthy, neutered, front de-clawed, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, virus-tested negative, and micro-chipped. His adoption fee of $75 benefits rescued pets. Animal ID: 15-03-01-00549Gracie (female)

Domestic Cat    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Gracie is super sweet, acts about as mellow and disinterested in things as you would expect a 7 year old (as of Feb 2015)cat to but then goes crazy when anyone pets her, dancing around and smashing her head on things purring.Gracie is a spayed female dilute tortoiseshell shorthaired cat. Gracie was originally trapped, neutered, and returned to a feral colony in 2011. However, when two of our foster parents went to drop off a trap for her caretaker to trap an injured cat in the colony Gracie came up and started rubbing on their legs and rolling around in front of them trying to get them to pet her. They took her up on the offer and soon ... (Read More)they were holding her hearing her nice loud purr. Thinking it was a shame for such a sweet middle aged kitty to still be outside in the awful cold they arranged to take her on as a new foster cat and look for a forever inside home for her. She was thrilled to be inside with better access to people and took no time at all to 'warm up' to life as an indoor only cat. Gracie is extremely friendly, outgoing, and great with other cats so she could be a great addition to an existing pet family or quite content as only cat that would get lots of human attention! Rescue Me ID: 15-02-24-00517Che & Kate (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Kate and Che, are a bonded pair of very shy tabby cats looking for a loving guardian. Found living together in a barn, Kate and Che were rescued and have adapted appreciatively to the warmth and relaxation of indoor condo life. They are best friends often found snuggling or nesting together in their foster home. While they are not necessarily snuggly with humans, they are looking for someone who will enjoy their company without wanting petable/huggable companion felines. Che is a four-year-old hunk of a long, sleek, male tabby with enormous soulful eyes and a big presence who loves to lounge on the sofa or hang out on the cat tree. He has ... (Read More)a super-mellow nature, and avoids confrontation from other cats. He's really just a big teddy bear that wants nothing more than a peaceful life. He loves food; whenever he hears a can being opened in the morning and evening, he pads to the kitchen and lies patiently by the door to make sure he's not forgotten (as if!). Kate is a 10-year-old petite female tabby with an endearing pixie face and the cutest white socks. Kate is coming out of her shell more each day and likes to explore her surroundings. She enjoys hanging out on the sofa grooming Che; she's a cougar! I understand from their foster mom that when an annoying photographer is not around, they are completely relaxed and happy. These two are well-mannered in the home, use their litter box and scratching posts like good kitties. They get along with other felines in the home. And, while they are not currently living with dogs, they'd probably be fine with a dog that didn't chase them. Kate and Che are not at all aggressive with people, or with other cats. When nervous, they retreat or hide rather than scratch or bite. They are neutered/spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and virus-tested. Kate had a dental and only has about three teeth left. Their adoption fee of $75 as a pair benefits the rescued pets of Azrael's Place. To meet and possibly adopt Kate and Che, please contact Lana at azraelsplace@hotmail.com or 708-218-4501. This duo is currently being fostered in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood. (Less)

Turkish Van Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Not Good with Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Please Share '| Chicago, IL - Adopt Tigger Skeets the Front-Declawed Bi-Eyed Cat Tigger Skeets is a roly poly, 18-pound, 13-year-old, male front-declawed Van Pattern cat with one blue eye and one gold eye looking for a loving guardian. Tigger was found inside a Calumet City trailer when his 65-year-old human mom passed away. He was living with another cat and a rabbit. The other cat has recently found a wonderful new home, and sadly, the rabbit had already died when his mom went into the hospital and no one was caring for her pets. When I brought Tigger home, the poor guy was in mourning for his mom. He just laid in a litter box ... (Read More)howling sadly for three days without eating or drinking. Luckily he bounced back after that. Tigger has adjusted to living with my other cats, but he could just as happily be the one and only cat in your life. He really doesn't like my dogs at all. And, I think he's just fine with rabbits. Tigger loves people so much that he rubs up against you and follows you around lovingly chatting the whole time. When you love on him, he rolls on his back for a tummy rub. He can only take so much tummy rubbing so you have to watch out for a little nip. Tigger uses his litter box perfectly like a good boy. Due to his roly-poly-ness, he certainly doesn't get up on your countertops. But, he does enjoy joining you in bed for snuggling if he has some pet steps to help him climb. Tigger is a healthy senior, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, virus-tested and he even had blood-work and a urinalysis done. His adoption fee of $50 benefits rescued pets. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-24-00113Stanley (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Adorable adoptable Stanley has come a long way in a short time. It's amazing what a loving foster home can do! Here is a little bit about Stanley from his foster family: He has come such a long way in such a short amount of time. When I first found him, he was timid and scared and a little untrusting (which is understandable since he was living on the street, being beat up by other cats and not used to having a loving family.) But NOW he follows me around the house as soon as I let him out of his room when I get home until the time he goes to bed. He loves being around people but maintains the perfect amount of independence (he's not ... (Read More)being needy, just really friendly.) My male 9-year old cat, Bobo and Stanley have become good pals. They haven't worked up to cuddling together yet (but it wouldn't surprise me at all if that were to happen sooner than later.) However, they play all the time together. Stanley also respects Bobo when he's playing on his own. Stanley has never had an issue with our 45 lb. pitbull. Actually I think he likes her! She gives him lots of space and respect, so that might be why he's so comfortable around her. Overall, I think Stanley would thrive in either a house with or without other animals. He's very young and adaptive to his surroundings. Stanley is a great eater, super playful and the perfect amount of friendly/independent. He doesn't try to escape the house and seems perfectly content and happy now. He even makes this adorable little squeak when he's trying to tell you he's ready for some lovin'. Which is when I know it's time to scoop him up and shower him with kisses:) (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sonia is a calico with gorgeous markings that is about 3 years old. She loves to play with kittens and take care of them, she is very motherly! Sonia is a crazy fun cat and if you watch her video you will know why we adore her. She was at a high-rate kill shelter and quickly became all the volunteers favorite cat. So much so that one of the volunteers took her home and decided to foster her in a home environment. The shelter was just too boring of a place for this clever girl, she needed more space to run, play, and explore! Sonia is absolutely amazing, she is such a funny cat that is super smart. She isn't going to be a lap cat - she ... (Read More)thinks they are rather dull and would rather be playing with you or with a kitten. She will play with you ALL THE TIME! She LOVES kittens, especially rambunctious ones and we are hoping someone that is looking for a kitten might consider taking her home with them too. Sonia would probably be best in a home without small children or dogs for now. She needs an adopter that understands that she would rather play with you than be cuddled with. She loves being around people, she just wants affection on her own terms. Please come meet Sonia, she is absolutely gorgeous and has so much personality. She needs a home of her own so she can get all the play time she wants! Sonia's adoption fee of $95 includes her spay, deworming, virus testing (all negative), age-appropriate shots, and microchip and registration. **The address listed in the video is not her current address.     Peekaboo has not had an easy life so far. She was surrendered to animal control by her owners who stated she was afraid of their dog and always hiding. They also said she bit them going into the carrier. She was impounded as a biter which was pretty much a death sentence for her. When we were at the shelter, we found out that she was in the euthanasia room and begged to be able to take her with us. We were allowed to do so and found that she was not only terrified but very sick. She has since be treated for an upper respiratory infection and is healthy now. She was adopted and returned to us because she did not like the overbearing cat in the home. We also learned she prefers women to men.     Minerva and Bacchus were rescued from animal control along with their 5 other siblings when there were about 5-6 weeks old. 4 of them are pre-adopted already and the 5th one is in a foster home with another kitten who was lonely and needed a buddy. Mattie is the epitome of a survivor and showed everyone that he had a will to live. He had a fractured pelvis which has healed on its own without surgery. Mattie isn't slowed down in any way by his physical state. He romps around like any other kitten and is totally happy go lucky.     Fraggle is looking for an experienced and patient adopter to help her reach her full potential. She has tendency to get overstimulated easily and will nip. We think this is a learned behavior and that she needs to replace this habit with something positive. She will tolerate short amounts of attention and petting, but then begins to nip. With some behavior modification she should make a great cat! Fraggle is spayed, microchipped, current on rabies and FVRCP, dewormed, and Felv/FIV negative.     Holly (about 4 and a half months old as of 12/14) is a spayed female black tuxedo long haired kitten. Holly is part of a massive triple litter born to three friendly female cats that were abandoned by their owners last spring. Unfortunately unlike their outgoing moms, these little ones didn't have much human contact until they were over 3 months old, so Holly is still a little shy around new people and new places. You may be able to tell from her picture that Holly is a special little girl with super long whiskers and a paralyzed left pupil which we suspect limits her vision in that eye. It shouldn't impact her overall health, intelligence, ... (Read More)or quality of life though, she's just fancy that way! At her foster home Holly lives with cats, dogs, and lots of teen visitors so we think she could adjust to most homes that can be patient with her initial shyness and see what a sweet, playful girl she can be!     Snickers (about 4 months old as of 1/31) is a neutered male black shorthaired kitten. Snickers and his siblings were born out in the cold to a feral mother cat who was brave enough to sneak them into the halls of an apartment complex to keep them warm; trespassing that landed them all in animal control and now foster care. Snickers is a more easy going kitten that loves to be picked up and babied. He will follow you everywhere like a little black shadow, he clearly loves people the most ever, but he also does great with the other kittens and cats he lives with and has reacted well to meeting dogs so he'd be great for a multi pet family. Violet and her siblings were born out in the cold to a feral mother cat who was brave enough to sneak them into the halls of an apartment complex to keep them warm; trespassing that landed them all in animal control and now foster care. Violet is the most shy and independent kitten in her litter. She is affectionate and loving but takes a bit longer to get comfortable in new places and with new people. If you're patient with her then when she wants to cuddle she'll come snuggle up next you. She's a quiet little girl who doesn't talk much but ... (Read More)she sure loves to play! She'd be great for older kids who will play with her a lot but respect her boundaries until she gets comfortable. Domestic Cat    Age: Senior

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Mauci (pronounced Mouse-ee) has been a fairly quiet, mostly docile cat all his life. He is feral and came to us as a month old kitten. Had problems with crystals in his urine, but had a sex-change operation at 2 years of age which solved the problem. Lately he has been aggressive to his owner, an 89-year old woman. This behavior is rare, but too much for an elderly person to handle. Mauci is so sweet it would be a shame to have to shorten his life over this behavior. I am sure someone out there could work with him and give him a few more dignified years. PLEASE HELP!

Tig was as a bottle baby whose mother was never located. His birthday is 9/2/14. He is a short-haired grey tabby tuxedo. He is very playful, fearless & adventurous. He would do good in an experienced cat home or with another cat to play with & help teach him manners. We would not recommend younger children as he plays roughly & play bites hard. He is getting better as he gets older. He has a high energy level. He can be very affectionate at times & we believe he will outgrow some of his roughness. He needs a patient & understanding family while he figures out how to play nicer.

Olaf (approximately 10 years old as of December, 2014) is a neutered male, brown tabby and white, longhaired cat. Olaf was originally fixed by a feral cat caregiver in 2012 and was supposed to become an inside cat as he was super friendly. Unfortunately, Olaf was not kept inside and was found again in the fall of 2014 on the other side of town in the middle of a snowstorm by one of our volunteers who brought him in and cleaned him up. Now he is looking for a permanent forever home inside. He loves to be petted and loved on but is also very independent and will do his own thing when his people are busy. Olaf is an older guy and isn't super ... (Read More)playful but he does get along with other cats and dogs. He would do great in almost any home but would probably be best to not be around young children as he does have some aches and pains from being old and his life outside and can get a little sensitive. Olaf is FIV positive but very healthy and he more than makes up for it in his kind and outgoing personality. We know he'd be perfect for a family understanding of his condition that can be just a little extra vigilant about watching him for signs of illness or infection. (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Mango and Mustard are a pair of amazingly gorgeous, cuddly, playful and sweet, daddy and daughter tabbies looking for a loving guardian - preferably together. This pair was found stray and brought to Chicago Animal Care and Control. They were lucky to have found a wonderful foster home together to start their new life together. Handsome Mustard is guessed to be about two years old and his beautiful daughter Mango is guessed to be about seven months old. They both share the same bunny-soft fur which makes petting and cuddling so much fun. They also purr and purr which is so encouraging and sweet. They are well-behaved in the home and use ... (Read More)their litter box and scratching post like good kitties. They currently reside in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago and live happily with three medium-sized dogs and one other cat. They love to spend their time entertaining each other and then resting on the windowsill or on your lap. Both kitties are very healthy, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormed and virus-tested. Their adoption fee of $95 each benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. To meet and possibly adopt Mustard and/or Mango, please contact Kirsten at ktour@hotmail.com or 773-263-3803. Their history '| Sadly, Mango and Mustard didn't start out life quite so happy. When they were brought to CACC, it was assumed it was a mom with her three tiny babies. They fed Mustard the adult assuming he was a mom nursing babies. However, it didn't occur to anyone that it was a dad with his young and incapable of nursing. The babies tried nursing and two babies died before Mango and Mustard were transferred to a foster home. Mango, the strongest baby survived 10 days at the shelter without eating. She made up for lost time by eating a lot in her foster home. However, she appeared to have an upper respiratory infection and went back to the vet repeatedly and was prescribed multiple antibiotics. Finally, she was brought to another vet who diagnosed her with a nasal polyp, a growth possibly due to a viral infection she picked up at the shelter. After surgery she is finally healthy and happy. She may always be small and kitten-ish looking due to her challenging kitten-hood. You may also notice that one of Mango's pupil's looks larger than the other. That is due to her recent surgery and may return to normal after healing. In any case, it does not in any way change her wonderfully happy quality of life. (Less)

Peaches has a sensitive soul and seems a little more troubled by her past than her happy go lucky sister Pickles. She takes a day or two to warm up to new people and places, but when she does she comes running to greet you with her tail twitching from excitement. She's not demanding at all and is often happy to just sit next to you and get a pet here and there. She does like to play but takes care of that mostly on her own, you can sit back and watch her do acrobatic acts. She's also a bit less trusting of new cats, she will even growl or hiss as she is getting to know them, but she doesn't seek confrontation and gets along beautifully with her sister Pickles so we know she can do great with other cats given time. Although she is probably too shy to enjoy being around very loud and active younger kids she is an incredibly gentle sweetheart so for families with calmer kids or regular child visitors she could be a great choice! Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Pickles (roughly 1 year old as of December, 2014) is a spayed female torbie shorthaired cat. Pickles was once a family pet with 3 other cats, until one day when her family moved away, and simply left the cats locked in their home. A neighbor saw the trapped cats and did what they thought would be most helpful- smashing a window to let the cats out so they wouldn't starve. Well, they just barely survived but they wandered the streets for months living off the land and all three females had kittens. Thankfully another neighbor who knew these cats needed to be inside and get fixed managed to catch them all and Pickles is now spayed and ... (Read More)looking for forever family! Pickles has a super happy nature despite her tough past. She's a little shy in new places but at home she's the epitome of a happy, outgoing cat. She dances around the room, scratching on every sisal post she can find, playing fetch and winding around people's legs. She has a lot of joy to bring to a home and seems to be adapting to new cats well although we're sure she'd especially love being adopted with her sister Peaches. Really still a kitten herself she has a high energy level and would make a great friend for another young cat or kitten. She's also super gentle and would do great around kids! (Less)

Petra is a gorgeous, four-year-old, female brown and white classic tabby with golden eyes looking for a loving guardian. Petra was being fed outside and she was very consistent about showing up at the same place and same time every day. My friend told me about what he thought was a pregnant cat. Turned out she is just well-fed! I went to meet her and took her home (in a trap). When I brought her in to get spayed, I found that she had trapped a couple times before ... so she had already been spayed and micro-chipped. So, I got her vaccines up-dated, and had her re-checked for viruses, and treated for fleas and worms. Petra doesn't have ... (Read More)much use for humans. She likes when they keep her well-fed ... she loves her canned food. And she's very neat and tidy and uses her litter box perfectly. She does enjoy the company of other cats and hangs out with them happily in my house ... until I come in the room. And, then she darts back to her cat tree to hide. It's a bit insulting, but I think a patient cat-loving person can bring her around to appreciating humans a bit more. Why would someone take in a semi-feral cat? She'll live longer in the great indoors, she is a good friend to my other cats, and she's a no-bother kind of girl ... clean and neat. And, she's a challenge for those that enjoy socializing shy cats. Petra is extremely healthy, spayed, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped, virus-tested negative and treated with revolution for fleas and worms. To meet and possibly adopt Petra, please contact me directly at sheri@petraits.com or 773-777-2891. She is currently living in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. (Less)

Genevieve (about 1 year old as of October, 2014) is a spayed female tortoiseshell short-haired cat. Genevieve was found outside as a ridiculously friendly and outgoing stray. We can only guess at her age and background, but because she is so petite and still so playful we think she is just under or just around 1 year old, she's like a big kitten! Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Waffle was born in April 2014. She is very sweet and laid back. She does not like to be held much but is very happy sprawled out next to you in bed or on the couch. Enjoys belly rubs. Favorite toy is the little pom poms. She will engage in play with people & other cats but her energy level is low. She doesn't play much by herself but will play with others. She would do better in a calmer home. She would be fine as an only cat or as a friend for another cat. She is unique in her purr as she doesn't sound like a normal cat. She grunts instead. :)

Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Miracle was brought in by someone when their dog got a hold of him. He was so young that he had to be bottlefed. He is now about 6 months old. He looks like a little skunk, even carrying his tail like one. He has some sort of issue with his neck, because he holds his head tilted. This is probably a result of his altercation with the dog when he was brought in, but we can't be sure. Miracle is very friendly and playful. We believe Miracle is deaf. (but he doesn't seem to know it)
