I am looking for a home for my 3 year old male cat, Tyler. (born March 22, 2012) I have recently moved and am unable to take care of him anymore. Tyler is very sweet and is good with other animals, of course once he has time to adjust to them. I can provide paperwork as proof. He will need his rabies shot again August 2015. Tyler is litter box trained and has always had a very good appetite. Again hes very kind and can be quite affectionate. I ... (Read More)really need to find a good loving home for him as soon as possible. i do not have the heart to bring him to a shelter. Siamese    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Oliver is a handsome wonderful loving 6 year old boy. I saved him from a shelter a week ago and when I took him to the vet, I learned he has IBD. I have two other cats of mine, and I cannot afford to give him the attention and pay for the treatment he deserves. But the thought of bringing him back to a shelter depresses me. I hope there is someone out there who wants to adopt this boy and give him his forever home. He is passive with my two kitties, but my girl doesn't like him. He just wants a blanket and the sun to make him happy. I hope there is someone out there who can help me save this boy and give him the years of love he deserves.

Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed

Violet & Dash are a sister/brother pair of approx 8 mos (as of 5/4/15) who need a home TOGETHER! They are untrusting of humans and will need a special home with a very special, patient human. Dash enjoys human pets but does not want to be picked up and Violet doesn't want to be touched at all. She is scared and will hiss if you try to touch her but will not bite or swat you unless you push the boundaries. Violet will never be a lap cat but I think in the right environment with the right person they will both improve and hopefully learn to trust.

This is our boy Gus. He's been in our family since 2002, and he's the greatest. Sadly, we have a serious allergy issue with one of our children, and we need to find Gus a new home. He's neutered and up to date on vaccines. He has been an indoor and outdoor cat all these years, and is perfectly happy with either. He has also lived with dogs his whole life, but no other cats...not that he can't co-exist; just that he's been our only cat.

This girl has it all despite her past. She was living in a home with many unfixed cats and had multiple litters of kittens before we took her in. Within less than a day, she was lounging on the couch with her 10 year old foster sister, greeting the energetic dogs in the home and relaxing like she had been there forever. She is the sweetest, laid-back cat and will do great in any home! Dogs, cats, kids.. No problem! Will be spayed and medically cleared before adoption.

Domestic Cat    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Marley is a sweet cat who is the unfortunately not a fan of dogs. This isn't entirely her fault, as we became professional dog sitters about 3 years ago. In that time she has retreated to our basement and never comes back upstairs where the dogs, and sunlight are. We have made sure she gets lots of attention from us still, but think it's unfair that she never gets to see sunlight. She is not up-to-date on vaccinations. She is an indoor cat only & has no interest in being outside. It actually scares her quite a bit. We would like to see her go to someone who wants lots of affection with not a lot of fuss. She's very chill, but does ... (Read More)like to be close to her person. (Less)

Domestic Cat Mix    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Nutmeg & Maple were rescued off Craigslist (a pretty dangerous place for any animal). They are siblings about 10 months old. Nutmeg(male) is orange and white and Maple(female) has a gorgeous, unique coat, she is very petite. Nutmeg is very hand shy. He is growing more accustomed to humans but still runs if you try to pet him. But is comfortable just hanging out a few feet away. Maple is friendly, loves to cuddle with you and be pet. Both are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines, also tested negative for FIV & Feline Leukemia. Maple has had a few seizures while in her cat carrier being transferred back and forth to the vet. However, she ... (Read More)seems to be growing out of it as the last two trips, no seizures! She has had bloodwork done which came back normal. It seems being in her carrier is just so overwhelmingly stressful that she gets her self so worked up she has a seizure. Ideally, she would see a veterinarian who makes house visits. Otherwise she is a perfectly normal kitten. They both play very well together. I would love to find them a good home together. They are being fostered with other cats and dogs and interact very well with them. *All their medical records will be given to their adopters. (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Leukemia (FeLV)

We've had a lot of super sweet and cool cats come through our system in the last four years, but this boy is totally special. And he needs a super special home because he's Feline Leukemia positive, so he has to be with another Feline Leukemia positive cat. Smokey was a stray who a woman started feeding late last year; we don't know why she didn't bring him inside. When she died suddenly her brother contacted several groups to take him and the three other cats who lived in her home. We took Smokey and one other cat. We didn't know that he was positive until we took him for a blood test. We can't say enough good things about this boy. He's ... (Read More)got great energy and is just so cool; we love him very much and will be sad to see him go. Smokey should be in a home where he'll get a ton of attention. We believe that he will live a long time because he's healthy otherwise. Since Smokey has to live separately from the other cats in his foster home (all the other cats live on the second floor), we think that sometimes he gets depressed that he can't be with other cats or his foster parent. We'd like to place him as soon as possible so that his immune system doesn't suffer. Smokey is a very social cat and as such needs to be with people (a FeLV cat would be a plus or a dog). ********************************************** We require that you fill out our Companion Animal Guardian History, provide vet reference(s) and have a home visit. We provide you with a photo copy of Smokey's medical record. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

March, 2013: Poor Jenny. Her people retired to another state and left her behind. ;-( She's sad without them which is why we want to get her into her forever home as soon as possible. Jenny is super sweet and just needs a litle warm up time to get used to her new surroundings. She likes treats, is affectionate and will keep you company all day long. Jenny's foster parent tells us that Jenny greets her at the door every time she comes home. She came from a fairly quiet household so we think that would be best. Update February 2014: Jenny was adopted this month, but the adopter returned her when it was discovered that she has diabetes. Jenny ... (Read More)never gave any indication that she is diabetic. Poor Jenny, she just can't catch a break. Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

I am quite the little mouser, a new talent I've developed since my foster mom lets me go outside because I'm special. None of the other cats in the house get to go outside, but since I REALLY hate to stay indoors all the time, she lets me in the yard. And that's when I discovered mice! *********************************************** Though our policy requires all cats adopted from us must live indoors, we're making an exception with Chloe. Since she can get along without other animals, and prefers to be indoor/outdoor, we will waive the requirement for her to live solely indoors. Chloe is a tame (as opposed to feral) cat, and she's OK to be ... (Read More)without human or animal companionship. In fact, she's better without cats, dogs, or people. We believe she would do well as a barn cat provided she has a heated place to live in the winter (required). We require that you fill out our Companion Animal Guardian History, provide a vet reference(s) and have a home visit. We provide you with a photo copy of Chloe's medical record. Adoption fee is $100 which includes spay, rabies, distemper, and Feline Leukemia vaccinations, worming, and microchip. Please note: Since Chloe is an indoor/outdoor cat, her Feline Leukemia Virus vaccination will need to be boosted every year. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Connecticut
Cats can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!
