Rescue Me ID: 17-08-21-00481Kali (female)

Norwegian Forest Cat    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I am currently out of state in rehab. My cat was supposed to be taken care of by my old roommate but she let the living environment become unsafe for the animal so I now have her boarded at a vet clinic and I was hoping to find someone to take her in for 3-4 months until I can take her back. Help appreciated.

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Jezebel is a gorgeous cat who came with a litter of beautiful long haired kittens, all had ear tuffs. She is very sweet but VERY Aggressive with dogs. She seems ok with other cats and was a great mom. She is spayed, tested utd on her shots, housebroken and ready to be someones baby. She may be a Maine Coon mix as she has the appropriate ear tuffs and tail. This is just an educated guess

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jake and Otis are two stunningly handsome, amazingly sweet Main Coon mix brothers who need a new forever home. The current family loves them, but family issues make it unlikely that they will have a forever home where they are. Jake and Otis are bonded best buddies and have been since birth. The extra-special family who will love them will soon see how loving and cuddly Otis and Jake are. They love to be near you and to communicate by swishing their majestic tails, chirping with the little noises Maine Coons are known for, and gazing up at you with heads tilted backward through gorgeous lined eyes. Jake and Otis shine with amazingly ... (Read More)soft, extra lush tabby-patterned coats. They are loyal and gently tempered and they are good with female cats and children. You will marvel at how proudly they will sit with heads upright to be brushed, combed and brushed some more. Don't be surprised if they suddenly flip upside down so that you can rub their bellies too! Jake and Otis love to burrow into your bed or sleep up on your pillow where they can touch you throughout the night. They might chase each other around like a game of tag, and though they are mature, they still enjoy gentle play. They love cozy, warm, squishy beds and tucked away corners for napping. The owners have maintained excellent health records and both cats are completely current on all vaccines, blood work, parasite exams, urine and fecal tests, physicals, and both are neutered and negative for FELV/FIV. Their most recent physician report stated that they are in good shape and are healthy overall. Jake does have mild Kidney failure but he does not need medicine. All medical records are available from the owners. Jake and Otis reside in Simsbury, CT. Please send an email to hlees.office@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting them and include a number where you can receive a call. The owners hope to keep them in CT or upstate NY so that they can visit the boys once in a while if at all possible, but they understand that this might be difficult. The owners are willing to answer questions or help with transportation if a good adoption home is found. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Connecticut
Cats can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

lnteresting Cat Trivia Low-Cost Connecticut Spay & Neuter Clinics
All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. Cats were considered divine in ancient Egypt and are depicted in hieroglyphs and found mummified in the tombs of Pharaohs. The cats in the Broadway show, Cats, were inspired by feral cats in London made famous as T.S. Eliot's Jellicle Cats. Cats were incredibly popular in ancient Rome; Rome may have been spared from plague outbreaks due to its huge population of feral cats keeping the rat population under control. Today, Rome has the largest number of feral cats of any city in the worldabout 300,000 felines! The largest domestic cat ever weighed was about 46 pounds!
