Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious, Incontinent

Lily was found abandoned a few years ago. My Mom took her in. When My Mom passed away then I took her. I have a Siamese that is very agressive with Lily & she hides alot. She gets along great with my little dog, but not Spooky. Spooky scares her so much that she will urinate after an encounter between them. When Mom took her in the vet said she was about 3 yrs old. She been with our family about three yrs so my best guess is she's around 6 yrs old. She's up to date on all her shots & makes regular visits to the vet for check ups. She's on meds to calm & help with peeing.

Bengal    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed

Azia is a wonderful purebred marble Bengal that needs a family experienced with this breed. She is very active and loves to climb, you would think she is a kitten. She does know some tricks as she is a very intelligent girl. She would prefer someone home more often than I or even a family. She definitely does not get along with other cats but would make a great human companion. She is four-paw declawed (she came to me that way!) so has to be an indoor only pet as well. If you are interested in adopting this wonderful little girl, please contact me. I have photos of her and could update her vaccines for the right home. Thank you for ... (Read More)considering her.     The New Britain Two: Our girls, Allie (the smaller one) and Bailey, were living in a dangerous situation. Problem is, after all this time and with no warning, they have decided they cannot live with our dog. As hard as this is, we really need to find a loving new home for these two. They are great with people of all ages, kids included. But, they need a home without other pets. Placing together would be phenomenal, as they have been together a lot of years and are great friends, but independently to a good home would be ok as well. They are neutered / spayed, declawed ... He was left in an abandoned apartment and then made his way to the shelter, where PPR stepped in! Walrus has battled ringworm and is now growing in silky, healthy fur. He's a little bit bulldog shaped and chunky, but we've done a full panel of blood work and he is in perfect health! This guy does really really well with other animals but can not be placed with men or young children as he becomes very fearful and acts out. We would love for him to go to a home with one or two women to love him for the re

Johnny Cash is a sweet kitty that needs someone to understand that a guy just needs to have his moods. Often Johnny will hiss but then willingly accept pets and loving. He has had a rough start to his life and needs a family that understands he doesnt care to be picked up (yet) and likes breakfast and dinner time. He is very soft and can almost always be found sitting/sleeping with this tongue sticking out! Although Johnny hisses he has never scratched or attempted to bite, he just likes to let you know how he is feeling. After you feed him he is always a little bit happier. Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults

Splotch is a young mom who is curious and loves to play! She loves to play and eat treats, she is just a kitten herself. She is up to date on shots and has been fixed. A minimum adoption donation of $100/cat or kitten or $160 for 'any two'is requested. PLEASE remember the adults need homes also and 99% of them in our care are just kittens in an adult body. SALE SALE- adults are in such need of loving homes that we are doing a 'name your price' on them. It costs us $90 for them to be fixed and shots and then there is also the cost of food, litter, medications and special treatment they may have needed while staying with us. What we ... (Read More)hope is that you take that into consideration when making your donation and know that in order for us to be able to help more cats and kittens in need we need to be able to cover our costs at least. It recommend and prefer kittens go to homes with another kitten or with cats already in the home, however it is not a requirement. Kittens do better socially and there is a lower return rate on kittens that have a play buddy. When you bring your kitten home they will be up to date on their shots and vaccines to their age, and spayed/neutered (or an appointment scheduled through us).     We've had a lot of super sweet and cool cats come through our system in the last four years, but this boy is totally special. And he needs a super special home because he's Feline Leukemia positive, so he has to be with another Feline Leukemia positive cat. Smokey was a stray who a woman started feeding late last year; we don't know why she didn't bring him inside. When she died suddenly her brother contacted several groups to take him and the three other cats who lived in her home. We took Smokey and one other cat. We didn't know that he was positive until we took him for a blood test. We can't say enough good things about this boy. He's ... (Read More)got great energy and is just so cool; we love him very much and will be sad to see him go. Smokey should be in a home where he'll get a ton of attention. We believe that he will live a long time because he's healthy otherwise. Since Smokey has to live separately from the other cats in his foster home (all the other cats live on the second floor), we think that sometimes he gets depressed that he can't be with other cats or his foster parent. We'd like to place him as soon as possible so that his immune system doesn't suffer. Smokey is a very social cat and as such needs to be with people (a FeLV cat would be a plus or a dog). ********************************************** We require that you fill out our Companion Animal Guardian History, provide vet reference(s) and have a home visit.     March, 2013: Poor Jenny. Her people retired to another state and left her behind. ;-( She's sad without them which is why we want to get her into her forever home as soon as possible. Update February 2014: Jenny was adopted this month, but the adopter returned her when it was discovered that she has diabetes. Jenny ... (Read More)never gave any indication that she is diabetic. Poor Jenny, she just can't catch a break. The good news is that Jenny's diabetes is managed with prescription diet and some commercial food; NO INSULIN NEEDED! ********************************************* We require that you fill out our Companion Animal Guardian History, provide a vet reference and have a home visit. We provide you with a photo copy of Jenny's medical record. Adoption fee is $150 and includes, but is not limited to, spay, vaccinations, worming and microchip. (Less)

Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My person died and the family didn't want to keep me. :-( So I came to The Queenie Foundation to find my new home. A nice man adopted me, but I didn't like the cat and the ferrets who already live there; a personality conflict. - sigh - I liked the lizard, though! I just want a forever home where I can sit on your lap or sleep on the bed; I'm super affectionate and can't wait to keep someone company. I can get along with another cat or dog in my new home if they give me my space. Children are OK as long as they're kind. **************************************** We require that you fill out our Companion Animal Guardian History, provide a ...     Our little Tuxedo, Bailey (not to be confused with Bailey, the American shorthair), also came out of New Britain, as a stray. She's very sweet, affectionate, and loves to sit on laps and laptops (probably because it's warm when the cover is down). She gets along OK with cats after an adjustment period and doesn't mind dogs. We think that it would be OK if there was another cat or dogs in her new home. ********************************************* We require that you fill out our Companion Animal Guardian History, provide vet reference(s) and have a home visit. Bengal Mix    Age: Young Adult

Willy was adopted from The Queenie Foundation in June 2012, but was returned in September 2013 because of asthma. His former people spend half their time in South Carolina and half in Connecticut; they discovered that Willy reacts to the pollen in the south so much so that he can't go there. It was determined by their vet that he needs to stay in New England, so our boy came back to us. Then he was adopted in March by a woman who has a pre-teenage boy. We're not sure of the details, but he was returned; given his behavior when he came back to us, he acted as if he'd been mistreated. He's been in a foster home since he came back and has ... (Read More)returned to his sweet silly self who only wants your affection. All we want for our boy is a quiet home where he'll be taken care of and loved and where he has plenty of room to hide, jump up high and lounge. He'll be affectionate with you and greet you at the door when you come home, but may or may not make friends with visitors. He's a special boy who just needs your attention. ************************************************ We require that you fill out our Companion Animal Guardian History, provide vet reference(s) and have a home visit. Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant

I am quite the little mouser, a new talent I've developed since my foster mom lets me go outside because I'm special. None of the other cats in the house get to go outside, but since I REALLY hate to stay indoors all the time, she lets me in the yard. And that's when I discovered mice! *********************************************** Though our policy requires all cats adopted from us must live indoors, we're making an exception with Chloe. Since she can get along without other animals, and prefers to be indoor/outdoor, we will waive the requirement for her to live solely indoors. Chloe is a tame (as opposed to feral) cat, and she's OK to be ... (Read More)without human or animal companionship. In fact, she's better without cats, dogs, or people. We believe she would do well as a barn cat provided she has a heated place to live in the winter (required). We require that you fill out our Companion Animal Guardian History, provide a vet reference(s) and have a home visit. We provide you with a photo copy of Chloe's medical record. Adoption fee is $100 which includes spay, rabies, distemper, and Feline Leukemia vaccinations, worming, and microchip. Please note: Since Chloe is an indoor/outdoor cat, her Feline Leukemia Virus vaccination will need to be boosted every year. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Connecticut
Cats can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

lnteresting Cat Trivia Low-Cost Connecticut Spay & Neuter Clinics
All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. Cats were considered divine in ancient Egypt and are depicted in hieroglyphs and found mummified in the tombs of Pharaohs. The cats in the Broadway show, Cats, were inspired by feral cats in London made famous as T.S. Eliot's Jellicle Cats.
