American Shorthair    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I have a super cool cat named Maynard that I'm trying to find a temp/permanent home for so that he can have outdoor space. I recently moved into a loft downtown and so he can no longer get outside which is where he likes to spend most of his time. He's extremely miserable being locked up in this apartment, and we don't even have a balcony for him. I will most likely only be staying here for a year, so I would be willing to take him back when I move, or if someone fell in love with him (which is very likely) I would of course never want to take him away in that situation. He's very chill, extremely friendly, loves being pet, and is great with ... (Read More)other cats, dogs, and kids. Let me know if you could help get this kitty back outside where he belongs! In the spring/summer/fall he spends 80% of his time outside. :-) (Less)

American Shorthair    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maggie the cat Hi my name is McGonagall (you know, the wise professor in Harry Potter?) but everyone calls me Maggie. I'm about a year old and I started out as an indoor kitty until one day I got pregnant and my owners kicked me out. I had a healthy litter of kittens on my own - and I made sure that every one of them survived and thrived - and then one day a nice person took me to Maxfund. Since then I've been staying at a foster home being the best mama cat you've ever seen and loving on anyone who comes to visit me. But%BD%BD%BD'%BD%BD%BD|I'm still quite a kitten at heart!! I don't think I've met a person I didn't like - small ... (Read More)children included. I love to be pet all over and if I'm not sitting on your lap then I'm sitting right by your feet or bringing you my toys as gifts. Not to brag, but I have the most beautiful markings on my fur - I kind of look like a Dalmatian kitty. I keep myself extremely clean and I respect the rules of the house (like no jumping on furniture, use only my litter box, etc.) (Less)

Animal ID: 371Wilbur (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Kitten

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind, Seizures

Wilbur Domestic Short Hair Male 4 months old 4 lbs Hey you! Yea you, I may not be able to see you, but I sure can hear ya! I wanna talk with you for a sec. So here's the deal, my name is Wilbur and I've had my fair share of time on the streets so, I'm looking for some good people that I can hang around with, ya know, some peeps I can call family. Let me share the details with ya and if I sound like a cool cat that you'd like to have around we can discuss the further plans. Like I mentioned before, I'm blind, but don't let that mislead you, I am still able to hold my own! For example, I'm not afraid to run full speed down the hallway and ... (Read More)I like to rough-house with the pups, as long as they can tolerate my shenanigans - I don't want anyone gettin' violent ya hear! I like to use my tail to help me figure out my surroundings and once I get the lay of the land, I'm set. While my foster mom is away at work I like to roam around the house, especially since she takes the dogs with her, but when the pups are home and my foster parents aren't I stay in my XL crate just to be sure no one gets too rowdy. I sleep in the crate at night too, which I don't mind - tough guys need a little security too ok? I'm totally fine if you pick me up, but you gotta give a guy a little warning that you're coming - call my name or give the floor a little tap. I've got the litter box down and I like to spend most of my time doing my own thang, don't get me wrong though, I'll keep you company, like when you're getting ready for work or when you get home. For some reason, I like dog toys, maybe because they're bigger and I can find em' easier, I don't know, everyone has their quirks. And speaking of quirks, sometimes I have little seizures, no big deal, the doc and I are working on it, but I might need a little extra support during those rough times - that's what family's for right?! So now you know my story a little better. I've had it a tough so far, but it just makes ya stronger! If you think you've got some extra space in your heart for a guy like me please, email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an application on the website, - I'm looking forward to meetin' ya good people. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-03-00682Tinley's Dream (female)

Maine Coon    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The interview and adoption process will be lengthy so if you are not willing to allow us into your home or to send a video of yourself, your house, etc. please do not inquire. I purchased two kittens from a reputable breeder in Georgia. This is the female. She is a stunning silver tabby that was born May 23, 2012, is spayed, UTD on vaccinations, micro-chipped and she currently weighs 14 lbs. Her name is Tinley and she is a very affectionate and comical cat. We are going to miss her greatly. She loves everyone in my family (hubby and two children (7 & 12)) but is slightly shy and hesitant with strangers. She is a huge head butter and ... (Read More)sits on my lap every time I sit down. She sleeps at the foot of our bed every night, with the dog and her brother. She lays on her back when she sleeps sometimes. It is so funny. She uses her litterbox religiously and has never had an accident. She really doesn't like car rides and sometimes cries and shakes. She thrives on a raw food diet but she likes a grain free diet of kibble if a raw food diet cant be given. She is up to date on all of her vaccinations and was micro-chipped and spayed when she was a kitten. Tinley loves attention and will thrive in a house with respectful kids. She loves hunting and playing with toys, and is used to being played with daily. When she gets scared she will run and hide. Although Tinley does have full registration papers and is eligible to be shown, we have not exposed her to the show ring, she has strictly been our family member and household pet. The Bad: She will hiss and swat at the dog if he chases her, which he does all the time and she is annoyed. ***MORE INFO****Tinley wants a home where there are no other cats or dogs to chase her and beat her up. She has recently just started standing her ground, and I can tell she is not happy. She loves people, although she is sort of shy at first. She will be happiest with adults and kids to cuddle with and provide her a warm lap. I work from home and every day she comes next to my chair, meows and reaches her paws up so I will lift her into my lap. She loves to be cuddled, rubbed, scratched around the chin area, etc. and she purrs and kneads when she is content. She loves to sit up high on our cat trees and look outside at the rabbits and squirrels. She really loves to go outside and sun herself on our patio. She also loves to play with toys and the laser light. She turns into a real hunter and gets very excited during play time. She will jump around and do flips for the toys. (Less)

Hi there! I'm Templeton. I'm named after the mischievous rat in 'Charlotte's Web' because I came from a barn (where I was starving, feral and sick) AND because I'm a super sweet, but very mischievous guy! Obviously, I'm no longer sick, and my foster dad says I'm the PERFECT mix of kitten craziness and cuddliness, so nope, not feral anymore either! In fact, now that I know what love and attention are like, I would be happy to get it all day long--proud attention hog here! I'm also too darn cute to resist! I adore my litter mates and also really love playing with the other foster kittens here. I'm just a happy-go-lucky guy all-around ... (Read More)who loves feather toys, rattle mice, and laser toys. Domestic Cat    Age: Young Kitten

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Howdy there! My name is Wilbur, and just like the pig in 'Charlotte's Web' I came from a barn and had little chance of surviving. Thankfully, ARR stepped in and look at me now!! I have a tipped ear because I was once feral--not anymore! My foster mom calls me her 'chunky cuddle monkey.' I also have a bent tail because it got broken when I was at the barn, but that just makes me interesting--doesn't bother me and adds to my awesomeness, I say! I'm a very social guy, I like to explore things and play, but I'm not a crazy rambunctious kitten. I'm a low-key member of Future Lap Cats of America (hee-hee). I adore my litter mates (hey, ... (Read More)maybe you could adopt two of us!) and try to be friends with the other cats in the house, but back off if they don't want to hang out with me. The resident dog is sometimes annoying, but I mostly ignore him. so I'd probably do OK with a calm dog too. I had an awfully difficult start to my story--sick, starving, scared and almost sent back to the barn to die. I got my second chance, and now, I'm looking forward to writing the happiest ending imaginable with my new forever family! Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I have had Clover since I rescued her at 6 weeks old when the family she came from said they were going to leave the kittens in a field because they would not get their cat spayed. She has been a wonderful companion for 6 years and loves to snuggle and make you feel better as much she can. It kills me that I have to find another home for her but I believe she deserves a steady home that I can't give her because I have to move to a different state and am currently pregnant. All the houses we have found do not allow cats :-(. She was raised with my irish terrier with whom she does like but would prefer to do her own thing. She is very small ... She will come with a bag of her food, carrier, bowls, all of her toys and litter box. I refuse to surrender her to the humane society here because they have a high kill rate and I can't handle that so I am looking for a wonderful home who wants a little love bug and an excellent window watcher. She is strictly indoor due to her size she's a little girl and I live near a forest. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-27-00176Bryce (male)

Norwegian Forest Cat    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bryce is an extraordinary cat - beautiful, majestic, with a loving personality. He's very smart and affectionate and gets along with cats, dogs, and kids. We are heartbroken that our home isn't the best home for him! The problem is that he thrives with lots of outdoor time, and we have too many predators for that to be a good option for him here. He needs a home where he can spend most of his time outside - safely. A farm in a place without coyotes and mountain lions would be ideal. He's not feral in any way, he just wants to live outside. He loves to snuggle, too, so he'll need lots of love! Bryce tolerates dogs. He got along great with ... (Read More)our first cat, they played like brothers. We recently got a kitten when that cat passed away, and despite our efforts to gently introduce them, Bryce is not happy. We adopted Bryce from a shelter two years ago and we were told that he defecates on beds. We thought we'd trained him out of that (he has done it several times, mostly when we have guests ... new smells + change), but he's doing it a lot since we got the kitten. He's also urinating outside of his litter box. Our vet has checked him thoroughly and says it's not a health-related issue. Bryce is healthy. Our recommended some behavioral things and said Bryce may have been used to living outside before we got him - we've tried everything! The bottom line is that Bryce is a wonderful animal, but he really needs to be a solo cat and/or live outside. He thrives outdoors. Right now, we walk with him outside an hour or two a day, as much as we can, but we cannot leave him out by himself because of predators. We picture him being the King Barn Cat on a farm, somewhere he can roam and be safe. We know that's a lot to ask, and we may not find that ideal home for him. In the meantime, we'll keep taking good care of him - we love him so much, we just want him to be happy. (Less)

These two kitties were adopted when they were less than 3 months old and have grown up together. they are right around the same age and are very gentle and have sweet temperments-- One female: Sophie was feral so she barely ever meows and is kind of a scaredy cat- we used to call her a spider monkey because she likes to jump up into high places. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-06-00064Frances (male)

American Shorthair Mix    Age: Young Kitten

Personality: High Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Trapped in a feral colony, this soooooooper sweet boy was in dire need of medical attention! A terrible eye infection in both eyes left him functionally blind and completely unable to fend for himself outdoors. His plight was posted on the rescue website and funds were solicited for the removal of his badly damaged eyes. BUT... By total chance, a vet with experience treating the sort of damage Francis had learned of his situation and relayed the protocol to the director of Animal Rescue of the Rockies. A somewhat experimental treatment ensued and this little survivor's eyes improved by leaps and bounds! He will always have some visual ... (Read More)deficits but they are minimal! The treatment has made it possible for Frances to play like a regular kitten. This kiddo is a living testament to serendipity and/or Divine Intervention Frances is a 3 month old long haired orange and white boy with a BIG SNUGGLY PERSONALITY. He adores people!!! He has a little bit of an issue with other kitties right now because he wants to love them at very close range due to his cloudy vision. Other kitties seem to take offense at this invasion of their personal space, but we are working with him. Frances is ready to find a home where he will be loved and adored for the rest of his life. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care. Highly requested breeds help cover the vet costs incurred by some of our other cats, enabling us to save more lives! $225 for purebred/highly requested kittens (6 months & under) $150 for purebred/highly requested cats (older than 6 months) $90 for kittens (6 months & under) $65 for cats (older than 6 months) $35 for senior cats (8 years or older) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!     I have had Sarah for over 10 years. She was about 4 or 5 when I adopted her. She has mainly been an outdoor cat and enjoyed being outside as well as indoors. However, she had to stay permanently outside when we had our daughter who is allergic. We recently moved to CO and our new neighborhood is not pet friendly. She has been confined to the garage. She is a very sweet cat who loves people and gets along with any other animal. It is no life for her to be cooped up in the garage and get attention sporadically through the day. She deserves to live out her life happily.

Bruce is a very affectionate, sweet-tempered cat who loves to be around people. His favorite place in the house is your lap and he will often greet you at the door when you come home and hang out in whatever room you find yourself in. He is never aggressive, just playful. He is a great moth hunter and is naturally inquisitive. He does not scratch or bite, and if provided scratching surfaces does not scratch furniture. He loves to be groomed, purring away and playfully nibbling on the comb when you brush around his head. He warms to new faces quickly and loves catnip toys or any toys he can chase around/bat at. We believe he simply needs a ... (Read More)home where he can be the sole recipient of all your affection, an only child if you will, because he does need your love and attention. His occasional accidents outside the litterbox seem to only come after conflict with our other male cat, and we believe they could perhaps dissapear altogether if he did not have to contend with another feline for attention and space. Otherwise, he is a joy to have around and just the sweetest and most handsome little companion cat. (Less)

Looking for a home for Mr. Merlin! Merlin has come a long way in his life. He was rescued from a litter that was tragically abused and most did not survive. I originally intended to foster him while finding him a permanent home, but I felt like he needed more time with me to overcome his fears. I feel like he is finally ready to find his forever home! Over time, he has gone from being very timid and afraid of strangers - hiding most of the time except at night when the house is quiet to hanging around the living room all day being friendly with strangers and able to handle the noises of day-to-day life such as TV and music. He still ... (Read More)doesn't like loud sudden noises or sudden movements directed towards him. He loves attention though! He is a very loving kitty and goes crazy for scratches on his back and cheeks. He does not enjoy being picked up or carried. Merlin has been around other cats and dogs all his life. He likes dogs as long as they don't chase him or harass him of course! He is very submissive to other cats, and I have noticed that some more dominant cats do tend to pick on him. He does not understand how to 'play' with other cats. I think he would do best as an only cat, but will consider a multi-cat household depending on the temperament of the cat(s) you already have. He does very well with cat-friendly dogs though. I currently have a Rottweiler who is a gentle giant and they are often seen laying together side-by-side. I feel comfortable having him in a household with calm dogs that are used to being around cats. Merlin is strictly an indoors cat. He actually has had the option of going outside and the farthest I have ever seen him get is sitting in the open window sniffing the air - he knows where he is safe! Merlin has been around children but I think he would do best in a home with a single woman or a couple. Older kids/teens would be better than small children as he does best in a mellow environment. He is currently on a grain-free dry cat food. I am asking for an adoption fee of $50. Merlin is neutered and is up-to-date on his shots (I can provide paperwork). I have become very fond of Merlin, and want to ensure he finds his forever home where his needs will be met and he will be loved and cared for. Merlin may experience an adjustment period when transitioning into his new home, and I want to find someone who can be patient as he earns your trust. In lieu of an adoption fee, I am asking that you buy 2 bags of cat food and litterbox/ litter so that I can see that you have the financial means to support his care. You can email me at missginasf@gmail.com or call/text 720-224-3323 if interested. Thank you. (Less)

Spice 4 months Male Growing! Hey! Hey, you there!! Spice here and I've got a question for ya. Are you looking for some warmth in your home? If so, I'm your man! My spicy personality will definitely bring the warmth and fun-loving you've been waiting for! I'm a four month old, brown tabby, with short to medium length fur. Although we're not quite sure just how big I'll be when full grown, my foster mom thinks I'm going a larger, handsome kitty when I grow up - sounds perfect, eh?!? Due to my young age, I'm still exploring the world and figuring out what I like and dislike. So far, I've discovered that I love every kind of cat toy and I ... (Read More)love to play! I like cuddling, especially at the end of the day, but I have to make sure that it doesn't cut into my play/exploring time. I like to use my litter box and I have no problem sleeping in a crate at night, but my foster mom leaves the door open so I can still get to my potty box, food and water, which is very nice. As far as other cats go, I'm very curious about them and I especially love my kitten sister, Sugar. She is my best friend and I would love to grow up with her. I'm also doing great with the dog in my foster home! So I'd do great in a forever home with a cat-friendly dog as well. I love everyone I meet, even kids, but I'm hopeful that you human adults will help those kids learn how a small, squirmy kitten should be held and treated! Over all, I'm looking for a family that wants to 'Spice,' things up and that are ready to teach me (and hopefully my sister too) all about this exciting new world! If I sound like the spirited guy you've been looking for please email, adopt@pawscoadoptions.org, or fill out an application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website today! (Less)

Sugar Female 4 months Growing! Oh, well hello there beautiful people. My name is Sugar, and yes, I know I am absolutely adorable! Now that we broke the ice, let me tell you a little bit about my personality. At only four months, I'm a pretty laid back girl and I am still learning a lot about this glorious world. I have long fur and I am predicted to grow into a lovely, medium-sized lady. Since I am so young, I'm still exploring the world and figuring out what I like and dislike.     Do you know I am named after a Greek Goddess? Isis was worshipped as the patroness of nature and magic. Maybe I can use my magic to make you fall in love with me? That shouldn't be too hard, as I am a beautiful 7 yr old, female Siamese cat who likes treats and playing with balls and string. I can be shy at first, but you need not treat me like a Goddess, just be my friend. I lived with my Dad my whole life, but will happily give you a try. www.safeplacepets.org/

Luna is a 2 year old long haired black tabby mix. She is amazing! Because of this, it is breaking my heart to have to re-home her. Luna loves to play fetch with any paper ball. She will even bring it back to you. She makes the cutest sound - it isn't quite a meow, but she still wants to talk to you. She also makes noises every time she does something - it's almost like she has her own theme song. I am having to rehome her as I just lost my job and am having to move back in with family. My father is very allergic to cats and because of this I am not able to bring Luna with me. I love Luna with all of my heart and just want her to be happy and ... (Read More)loved. She has always been shy but sweet. Ideally, we would love for her to go to a quiet home where she can be the only animal or to a home that has only one other cat (she loves having someone else groom her). PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Colorado
Cats can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. Cats were considered divine in ancient Egypt and are depicted in hieroglyphs and found mummified in the tombs of Pharaohs. The largest domestic cat ever weighed was about 46 pounds!
