SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE CONTACT 256-883-3783 with the animal identification number provided. Huntsville Animal Services 4950 Triana Blvd Huntsville, AL 35805 PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT INFO BELOW (your question may be answered here) This page is largely volunteer operated. We use our own time to visit the shelter, take pictures and post them to this page. With that said, the above information may be the only information we have available for this animal as we do not like to get in the way of the shelter staff to ask a lot of questions on every single animal. Please know that a high percentage of animals ... (Read More)in the shelter are brought in as strays. It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc. Every dog you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive toward adults. As far as child or cat aggression, that is not a standard test that can be performed on every animal. If you are concerned about either aggression, it is suggested that you visit the shelter in person and ask a shelter attendant for assistance. We do allow you to bring pets in to see if they get along before adopting, and if you elect to do so, make sure your pet(s) are COMPLETELY up to date on vaccinations, especially bordatella (kennel cough). ADOPTION FEES Cats seven months and older are currently $35 as a special Spring and Summer promotion that includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, feline AIDS/LEUKEMIA test, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. Kittens six months and younger are $50. Dogs are $35 for adults, $50 for puppies. This includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, canine heart worm test over six months of age, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. LICENSE FEES $35 - Lifetime license not included in the adoption fee PER CITY ORDINANCE, DOMESTIC ANIMALS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A CITY LICENSE TAG WHILE RESIDING IN THE CITY LIMITS OF HUNTSVILLE. It is recommended and the responsibility of the adopter to put their new pet on their choice of heart worm and flea/tick prevention within 30 days of adoption in order to ensure a happy and healthy pet. SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS ABOUT THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE CALL OR VISIT THE SHELTER. (Less)

Mr. P is a 10-year old orange tabby cat. He is neutered and declawed. Mr. P has always been an inside cat and will only be adopted out to a home that will keep him indoors. Due to uncontrollable changes in family circumstances, we have had to take in our granddaughter's cat. We already have 3 cats and Mr. P is the only one that will not accept the new cat. My granddaughter will be heartbroken if we were to rehome her cat. So the best solution seems to be to find a new home for Mr. P. Please contact Andrea at 334-524-3694 or doxiepalooza@gmail.com.

I would really like someone to take them to spay the momma, I'll even take her back, and to find homes for the kittens. I only found them about two weeks ago, so they are skiddish of people. My neighborhood has about 30 or so feral cats that me and a few neighbors feed, and they are constantly reproducing.     Mookie will steal your heart when he puts his arms around your neck to greet you when you come home! He is 3 years old, neutered, DECLAWED, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. We got him from a shelter where he was with a lot of other cats but he has been the only pet since he came to live at our house. He seemed to be fine with the other cats at the shelter. We have had a small dog visit our house occasionally, and while Mookie was stand-offish with him, he did not hiss or bite or act ugly. Mostly he would just go to another room. With our small grandchildren he was just the same, would just ignore them mostly although he ... (Read More)prefers it when they're not there and things are quieter. I believe he would be fine in a home with other pets and/or children after an expected period of adjustment. He would also be great for an older person who needs some company as he's kind of lazy and not very active. He is a good boy but we are gone so much he's lonely and bored, and that's why we're looking for a better home for him. BECAUSE HE'S DECLAWED, HE HAS TO BE AN INSIDE-ONLY CAT. Please don't contact if you're not okay with this. (Less)

Besides the litter of six that Joliet gave us, we also were 'blessed' with another litter of four, courtesy of our orange-striped female tabby, Sunny, and Sirius, a black male kitten foisted on us by a then-co-worker of my son-in-law. Garfield is the larger and lighter-colored of two orange-striped males. He loves wrestling with his siblings and the other kittens, as well as snuggling up to someone who is sleeping. He and his siblings also love climbing. On June 19th, he was neutered and received a rabies vaccine. That is why I am requesting $47--to recoup the cost of his neutering and his rabies vaccine.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cat in Alabama
Cats can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. Domestic Cats have been intriguing companions for humans since ancient times. Worldwide, cats are even more popular than dogs as pets. Sadly, huge numbers of cats are in need of adoption and care. A cat owner who no longer wants the cat, or is no longer able to care for a cat, may drop the cat off at a shelter or simply abandon it. Overcrowding in shelters, along with too few adoptive families for the cats, leads to many wonderful pets having to be euthanized. Abandoned cats fend for themselves and breed in the wild, forming colonies of feral cats. Feral cats have such a difficult existence that they typically only live an average of two years, whereas domestic cats can live an average of twelve years with proper care. Organizations exist that can catch and tame feral kittens, and then place them in a home, but adult ferals can rarely be socialized to trust humans. Meanwhile, many prospective cat owners choose to purchase a kitten from a pet store or breeder, and may not know that even purebred cats and kittens are often available for adoption.

Once someone is ready for the responsibility of caring for a cat, adoption can be an incredibly rewarding decision. Adoption benefits cats, owners, and society alike. Adopting a cat is typically much less expensive than purchasing one. Shelters often have a wide selection of very sweet, friendly cats and kittens, including purebreds. Adoptive owners enjoy bonding with their pets, and have the extra satisfaction of knowing they have rescued a wonderful companion from a hard existence. Every cat adopted means one less cat has to be euthanized. Every kitten purchased new results in one less opportunity for adoption to take place. If you are ready for a pet cat, please consider adoption!

lnteresting Cat Trivia Low-Cost Alabama Spay & Neuter Clinics
All domestic cats are descended from African wild cats. Cats were considered divine in ancient Egypt and are depicted in hieroglyphs and found mummified in the tombs of Pharaohs. Cats were incredibly popular in ancient Rome; Rome may have been spared from plague outbreaks due to its huge population of feral cats keeping the rat population under control. Today, Rome has the largest number of feral cats of any city in the worldabout 300,000 felines!
